    NCAA Tournament 2025

In one of the closer ones, MN native Lauren Jensen dueled against MN native Adalia McKenzie. The latter's Illinois team topped the former's Creighton.

Athletic has Minnesota Ranked Number 2 in State Rankings

The volleyball team has landed top recruits from Florida, Texas, Kansas City, etc. It can be done. (And volleyball also does great with MN talent, which took them all the way to a final four in Columbus)

Through three quarters, Oregon State is ahead of Portland by ten and looking like they'll steal a spot in the tournament (and move ahead of Minnesota). You might be clairvoyant.

    Pathetic Schedule

Weird how the this-nonconference-schedule-is-what-the-Gophers-need people seem to have vanished now that what many of us were saying all along has proved true: The awful non-con did not prepare the Gophers for conference play, provide an opportunity to give new players more time on the court or...

    Wisconsin Badger coaching search 2025

She just signed an extension and very publicly stated that she's not going anywhere, presumably to head off this sort of talk. We shall see. (Her team was on ESPNU the other day and I tuned in, hoping to see a fluid offense of the sort I wish the Gophers had. Didn't get that. But they're good.)

I'm not sure I understand this thinking. Indiana is comfortably ahead of Minnesota in terms of getting in. The teams Minnesota needs to worry about are the teams that are currently behind them. Virginia Tech, Stanford and Arizona lost, which is good news for the Gophers. We'll see what happens...

B1G tourney game 1: Gophers versus Washington (3-5-25)

If we're paying attention to the eight or so teams who seem to be behind the Gophers and might be able to grab NCAA spots, it's worth noting that one of them, once-mighty Stanford, just suffered a bad loss to Clemson in their tourney. The Cardinal will definitely miss the tournament for the...

Not much has happened either, other than early foul trouble for Battle. Looks a lot like the game last week.

Whalen was injured her senior year (when she memorably returned, as if nothing had happened, in the first round of the NCAA tournament to slip by UCLA).

I don't think anyone has posted that Plitzuweit confirmed that Braun will not return this season.

Meanwhile others (like Iowa State and Virginia Tech) are getting the Quad 1 wins that can help them move past the Gophers.

B1G Game 18: Gophers visit Michigan State (3-1-25)

I said "underprepared," not "completely unprepared." The Gophers were well-prepared to beat terrible teams.

B1G Game 18: Gophers visit Michigan State (3-1-25)

Ok, they won 20 games but, at the risk of being accused of sounding this horn again, most of those wins were against godawful teams. Precisely one of the non-conference opponents finished with a winning record. They are, essentially, bad wins that left the team underprepared for the conference...
