    Six Gophers headed to combine

Did Spencer even declare for the draft?

Max Brosmer invited to NFL Combine

On a side note, one would think Gutekunst would have had better teams with the number of guys he had drafted in 1988 & 1990.

Max Brosmer invited to NFL Combine

1972 Craig Curry according to Gophersports.com. It seems ludicrous it would be that long ago. https://gophersports.com/sports/2018/5/21/sports-m-footbl-spec-rel-11-nfl-draft-history-html

    NFL Scouting Combine

    I answered my own question. 6 - 2025 5- 2001 4- 2023 & 2010 3 - 2016 & 1998 https://gophersports.com/sports/2023/2/8/nfl-draft-combine-invitees

I'm curious how this compares to past years?

B1G soliciting preliminary bids from private equity firms

The PAC12 looked at selling a 10% stake in media rights before the pandemic but eventually backed out. Over $500 million for 10%. I can't imagine how much higher the BG10 would be...

    Dammit, Martes Lewis is transferring!

Tafai and Roy probably the projected starters. Regardless, losing a serviceable OT always blows for depth purposes.

Damn. That reminds me. I have a rarely-used $35 monthly carwash subscription I need to cancel!

The Midwest is the new home of college football national champions

There's also this Midwest team in maroon and gold with a weird rodent mascot that would be fun to see challenge. ;)

Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will hold fewer people than expected after renovations

42,000-44,000 is probably the right figure. TV and streaming is so good that attendance isn't what it used to be. Plus, peoples' backsides have gotten bigger rapidly (fewer seats in the same space). On a side note, maybe Ozempic will make Williams Arena's tiny bench seats relevant again.

B1G soliciting preliminary bids from private equity firms

The advantage of selling to a PE firm is receiving a shit ton pot of money today in exchange for the future's uncertain profits. If the business model stays extremely profitable in the future, then everyone criticizes what a poor decision the sale of future profits was. If everything crashes in...

College Soccer is Looking at Becoming a Pro League

Non-profit accounting for a college is full of misleading things. For example, athletic student financial aid expenses charged to the athletic department aren't actual cash costs. For example, the incremental true expense in allowing a scholarship athlete to attend classes already being provided...

College football officials to explore use of centralized, neutral replay system for postseason games

The NFL officiating process is even worse than college to the point of looking corrupt. Please don't model them for anything!

College Soccer is Looking at Becoming a Pro League

As I posted on some other thread, I still don't understand how providing a full scholarship plus personal expenses plus millions in program costs (coaches, staff, travel, facilities, etc.) for non-revenue sports provides a net benefit to a D1 university.

College Soccer is Looking at Becoming a Pro League

I assume this is just the top of D1? It sounds intriguing, but I'm skeptical that it could work. The new college minor leagues would need to make money to work. I doubt a single college soccer program operates anywhere near a profit currently. Would schools continue to fund a soccer minor league...

The Midwest is the new home of college football national champions

I'd be happier if one of my teams was in this list of Midwest champs, but still!

    Final AP Poll

I'll keep saying, the CFP screwed up the whole bracket by seeding Boise above Clemson. Nice season, but they would have been an underdog to all 11 other teams in the CFP.

    Final AP Poll

I prefer to use the final Sagarin ratings for "Recent" and "Strong Recent". At least this year.
