See the NBA as an example of what happens when you put an inferior product on the floor for too long. Eventually interest wanes and people stop caring. Not saying it will fold completely, but it runs the risk of becoming a shell of itself.
They need to find a way to rebalance like 6 of the top conferences back to some kind of regional alignment. Probably impossible with all the tv deals and whatnot, but having 18 team national super conferences is not sustainable.
I think the copium on Ben Johnson has worn off. Everyone knows at this point he was an abject failure, whether they are willing to admit that out loud or not. No logic used to defend him can withstand even the smallest levels of scrutiny.

Niko beat down the gophers so bad in the 2023 secret scrimmage game that Ben didn't even schedule one before this last season. Just added a 2nd exhibition game against a D3 opponent to avoid further preseason embarrassment. Just a hunch.
