Ideally there would be a major realignment and other changes to promote parity and regional representation but until then, I think there will be less then compelling games before the semifinals.
I don't mind the bowls in general. I should have been more clear - there does not need to be any connection between CFP and any bowl games/organization.
I'm as big of a traditionalist as they come but the bowls are meaningless and the bowl system is dead. I see no reason to continue to pander to chambers of commerce in sunny locations.
I was going to use this data to suggest that 12 is simply too playoff teams and that we'll find that there is quite a lot of separation between the top 4 teams in CFB and 5-10. I think the likelihood of a Cinderella in the CFP is very low to almost certain not to happen. 8 is probably too many...
Degree offerings don't mark the caliber of the school. UND also has a med school and law school. USD very nearly lost the law school within the last few years and med students already spend most of their time in Sioux Falls. And while there is nothing wrong with the B school, I've never...
But the NFL doesn't give $30-$50 to 5th round draft picks who haven't played a snap of professional football. With the record of recruiting and developing QBs here, I'd much rather roll with a guy that's shown he can actually play college football. It's not like KOC is our coach.
For a team whose top end is mediocrity a running a guy out into the most important position in sports on a wing and prayer is quite a risk.
Do we pine to play lightly recruited 3* freshman prospects at any other position? Do we annoint unknown o-linemen? Corner backs? Certainly we have...
Is that really true, though? Lots of QBs never see the field. Those that do, some get better, some don't. Many start, get benched and never see the field. That assertion paints with an awfully broad brush.
A couple of FCS guys to keep an eye on:
1. SDSU QB Mark Gronowski. After exploring the draft (he never entered the portal but there was reliable info that he was going to grad transfer to Northwestern) following the 2023 season, Gronowski elected to return to SDSU. He has said this year is...
You are right. I've seen the error of my ways. The Big 10 West was superior to the Big 11. I should have recognized that with the very many Big 10 champions that emanated therefrom and the CFP contenders it annually produced. Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Purdue, Illinois and Northwestern were...
