Shooter: Gophers' NIL budget this season —lowest in the Big Ten — was in the $700,000 range, of which Dawson Garcia got $500,000.

Not believing anything shooter says is a wise decision on your part. :) I mean we know we don't have the same NIL/Pay for Play slush funds as some schools but football has been proving we must also not be complete paupers because they are managing to keep most of the key players from leaving.

    2025 Transfer Portal Watch

I am sure we will see a few more big bodies added to the roster before it is all said and done. The good news is that the number of dominant 7'0"ers is a pretty small number so as long as you have athletic size you can get away with being a little on the shorter end.

2025 NFL draft rankings: Matt Miller's top 600 prospects

I tend to agree that this is probably how it shakes out. Ersery, Lindenberg, Walley and Joyner get drafted Brosmer and Jackson with a great shot of landing an UDFA spot Striggow, Cooper and Carroll are longer shots but wouldn't shock me to see them find ways onto a team somewhere. Hopefully we...

    Roman Voss

Sure, but if you could get good money from the local team and stay in the area there would be some definite appeal to that as well....we are seeing that with Perich right now. He could have gotten more money somewhere else but has elected to stick with the home town school for almost certainly...

    Nolan Groves

First off, most coaches don't recruit based on stars, if they think a kid can make an impact they will recruit them regardless of what the recruiting services say. In basketball you have a really limited number of spots to work with so you have to prioritize some recruits over others. Fans may...

    2025 Transfer Portal Watch

You would think but the portal has been around a few years now and the numbers aren't declining. Especially now with the money piece, lots of players out there shopping around for a better deal because they have no sense of loyalty to their current school. Heck for some of them, changing...

    2025 Transfer Portal Watch

Yep, teams will no doubt gravitate towards players they have some form of existing relationship with because you have to narrow the pool somehow. Still, you have to do your due diligence as well and try not to miss on a guy that could help your team and is attainable. To me the toughest part...

Hold out!! Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava did not attend Tennessee spring practice today. He’s been in conversations with Tennessee about a new contract.

I think you have to be careful about lumping all college athletes together. Most are good kids, playing a sport they love while going to school preparing for life after sports. What we hear about most are cases like this one where the kid is clearly trying to extort as much as he can from the...

    2025 Transfer Portal Watch

Unreal....over 2000 players in the portal. Can't even imagine what it must be like to try and scout all these players to figure out who might be a good fit in such a short period of time with tons of other schools all looking at the same players.

    Niko’s roster construction

Yeah, looks like he is pulling together a solid roster but ranking it against anyone else is a pointless effort because none of us has any clue (recruiting sites included) how all these newly formed rosters are going to perform next year. So much of your success in basketball hinges on how well...

    Chansey Willis Jr Commits

Forget the part about coming here.....there are very few players with no weaknesses available going anywhere. And those are the guys who will get ridiculous sums of money tossed at them from the handful of schools able to do things like that. The advantage Niko has is that he has a system and...

    Chansey Willis Jr Commits

Yeah, anything over 70% is decent, over 80% is really good and if a kid is in the 90% range he is exceptional at the line. But anyone hitting at least 70% can be in a game late without being a liability for sure.

    Chansey Willis Jr Commits

Yeah, kid looks like a really solid pickup but of course there will always be those online that will immediately look for the negative angle. The game is so focused on the 3 point line right now that I do think some fans forget that you can still be a good player even if you are not a great 3...

    Niko’s roster construction

Should be significantly better from the free throw line as well :)

    Niko’s roster construction

Need a guard that can see significant minutes to avoid needing to rely on true freshman. And need at least one more big body (doesn't have to be really tall but need decent height and mass) to bang down low and this has the look of a solid roster on paper. Will be interesting to see how the...

Analysis of 2025 Coaching Changes - is there a problem?

I agree. Problem is the only way you change it for sure is by forcing teams to hire minority candidates but that puts the team and the coach in a bad spot right off the bat, especially if the coach struggles to win quickly. There definitely is an issue but solving it is extremely complex and...

Hold out!! Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava did not attend Tennessee spring practice today. He’s been in conversations with Tennessee about a new contract.

Absolutely, was just pointing out a trend I have seen with players including the line about possibly coming back in their transfer announcements. If I were a coach it would have to be a really special player for me to want a kid back that goes into the portal in an effort to get more money out...

Analysis of 2025 Coaching Changes - is there a problem?

Thanks for compiling the info....the 4 of 21 - 1st time head coaches is the biggest issue in my opinion. Ideally that number should be much closer to 50% to start making a dent in the disparity that exists. But in saying that it gets tough....because schools should be free to hire whomever...

I'm sure the team still has to let the player come back but have seen a number of guys on the basketball side include a line in their portal announcement saying they are leaving the option to return as a possibility.....which is another way of saying "offer me more and I will come back".
