    Is Niko coming to MN?

He actually took another step up with Mashburn leaving New Mexico. Think of what they'd be if they hadn't lost Toppin.

If CSU doesn't get dominated by Queen, they can play with them because they defend the guards pretty well, and Clifford is not a great matchup for Maryland either. But as others have said, when Maryland is on, it's tough.

He's still highly thought of for sure. It's just one player but he/his staff pulling Jeremiah Fears out of Illinois was something. That kid is great.

It says a lot about the school and tradition of excellence. They fell off big-time after Jay Wright, but still a highly coveted job.

UNC played well, but San Diego State looked about as bad as they can look, and definitely nothing like cohesive previous year's teams. Terrible handling of the ball, like they had oil on their hands, especially Compton. Some of their shots it's like they threw it at the rim. . .

The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

I see your point. It's going to be interesting, assuming Niko happens, what occurs with Thorson. I do like Cooley in that he's a similar grinder type who had to earn his way just to get to CSU. But without Ali, he'll need a stud recruiter.

It seems like Indiana is in an awkward spot, as there's nothing close to a natural fit/hire at this point. I can't think of one coach right now, where I think "perfect". I guess if you could pull someone like Chris Beard that could work, but man it seems like they are in no mans land right now...

    The Tourney Brackets

My first thought is if I weren't hooked on the tv coverage, and not wanting to miss a game, I'd want to be in Denver. I like the Cleveland games also. To me, the best weekend in sports is Thursday-Sunday of March Madness. It should be a national holiday/weekend.

The simple geek move is google "Colorado State Basketball Roster". The same thing I've done with UCSD, Yale, and about 10 others. I do it in part as I'm always curious where players are from, how far & wide coaches cast their net, transfers versus prep, etc.

I thought the same. It's like a professor at the front of a class, all off the top of his head. Basically, any coach preparing for this week, could listen to that interview and not saying they don't already know all this stuff, but he shares it in about 45 seconds.

The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

You made me think about how well they develop. I think Roddy might have been the first/best, then Tonje. Clifford sort of counts, but Tad Boyle gets a little credit there also as Clifford started at CU.

The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

I remember those articles also. Niko is the head coach, and no doubt Thorson was good for him. . .and he still has a good staff after losing Thorson. I actually think this year may be his best coaching job as they weren't looking very good early in the year.

Farokhmanesh is good. It wouldn't surprise though, to see Thorson retained also. We'll see.

Miles would be really good in that role, but he's still coaching. I do think they need a GM or similar to help on the NIL side.

I don't have any issue with the job Coyle has done, and how he represents the U. He made a really good hire with Fleck, missed on Ben Johnson, but at the time who could even say the decision was his. Everyone jokes about him, but my guess is he's a hoops junkie like most of us on here, and he...
