If Ben was a good coach they would have been playing well together to start the season. Instead they looked lost and out of shape like they do to start every season.
Finishing a few games better than expected when you're picked to finish last every season isn't an accomplishment for anyone...
Struggled building the linebacker room? I disagree with that. They really only play 2 LBs, and have Maverick, Devon Williams, the transfer from Oklahoma State Jeff Roberson who will likely start next to Maverick, and some younger guys.
It's easy to spot a leader and a program builder after two years, even if they don't have a lot of success right away. You can tell if there's an obvious system in place, recruiting improves, the players buy in, and the coach is a leader.
Ben has provided none of those qualities and it has...
If they sign him, they have too many other needs to take another DT with their 1st round pick.
I think it's a near lock they trade out of the 1st round. They also need to take a RB in the first 3 rounds. Much like they needed to take a QB in last years loaded QB class, they need to take a RB...
McCarthy is the future and will start on week 1. They're not trading him. It's silly to even mention it.
Last year was Darnold's peak. They were never keeping him and the Vikings won't attempt to re-sign him. Darnold is lucky JJM wasn't healthy otherwise he might have been replaced when he went...
Probably because the last two seasons weren't PJ's best seasons like they were for BJ. 2023 was PJ's second worst full season here.
You definitely don't have a point trying to make that comparison.
Yeah he was good at finding under the radar recruits, which you still need to do, especially at a place like Minnesota. But TJO has always been better at recruiting higher end talent, which you also need to do to be successful in a major conference.
Because of that, he's the one big name I think the Gophers could actually have a tiny chance at. Probably only a 1% chance, but it's worth a call to find out.
Don't the Gophers have one of the best players in the country on our roster? That helps a lot. Last year's team keeps getting overrated because the B1G was very mediocre.
I also don't buy he's a good coach when they lay an egg every time it looks like they might be turning a corner. He does...
The last time was 14 years ago, on January 29, 2011. The 16th ranked Gophers played at #12 Purdue, and lost by 12. The Gophers beat #8 Purdue at home a few weeks before that.
They also had 2 regular season games on CBS in 2010.
