Gophers football missed whopping 22 tackles in loss to North Carolina

Thanks. That's interesting. I wonder how many times we had more than one missed tackle on the same play.

Gophers football missed whopping 22 tackles in loss to North Carolina

I knew that we did not tackle well as another Gopherholer previously posted. I am familiar with norms for several stats, but could someone give me an idea of what is typical in a D1 game? I know that zero missed tackles would be preferred, but that's a tall order.

    The reason we lost

Fully agree with both statements. As I have been harping on lately, our margin for error is just too small to overcome multiple mistakes vs. a solid opponent.

18 Teams in the BIG TEN - Only one lost - Can you name them?

Yes, we aren't good enough to win if we don't play well against a quality opponent. Fleck also mentioned that we do not have much/any margin for error. That has been the case for a long time, Kill used to talk about margin for error too. We just can't make the stupid ones, like illegal...

Post Game Thread: Gophers Lose to North Carolina

I can't blame the ST coach too much for second the missed field goal, but how the hell do we line up in an illegal formation twice on punts (I only remember one, have read that there were two)? The one I recall cost us a fumble recovery! Getting a punt team aligned is not rocket science. Our...

What grade would you give Max Brosmer in his first game with the Gophers?

I gave him a "D", but its only one game. After 3 or 4 games we will get a better picture. Premature to give a grade, certainly not a final grade. He'll have better games. Go Gophers!

    Tomorrow is my Favorite Day

Yes, Go Gophers! I have great anticipation to see what the defense does. My guess is that that there will be some hiccups. I want them to "play fast' but not so fast that they quickly take themselves out of position. Go Gophers!

    Stormy Rowing Ahead?

In a funky way, I think that I could enjoy seeing either NDSU winning, or losing 63-0.

    Stormy Rowing Ahead?

Yes, lightening sucks. From a player's standpoint it may not be a huge issue, other than for QB's and maybe receivers. Throwing a wet football is a real struggle for some people, Troy Aikman for instance. Anyone who says its not a problem to throw a wet football never played QB. Now, from a...

    Stormy Rowing Ahead?

Flying in Thursday. Supposed to land at about 2:30. Hoping to dodge poor weather then and for the game. Sounds like a pipe dream right now. Go Gophers!

Trojan Wire: The Minnesota Golden Gophers are the Big Ten equivalent of what Cal was to the Pac-12.

They might be lazy, but what they write has a ring of truth to it too.

The headline in the Friday newspaper will be?…

"Hampton runs for 200 yards, Gophers 0-1." I hope that I am wrong.

Didn't our Non-Conf just get more interesting - Nevada up on SMU by 11 as they get close to the 4th Qtr

And still managed to win. They made it tough on themselves for sure.
