Minnesota football: 5 biggest holes to fill in 2021 starting lineup

I certainly can’t (and didn’t) say anything with absolute certainly. But it is my biggest concern and for good reason. While I share your optimism on the young recruits, the basis for my statement is that last year DB play was really bad, and our backups were Swenson and Howard — none of last...

Minnesota football: 5 biggest holes to fill in 2021 starting lineup

My biggest concern continues to be the CB outside of Durr and both safety positions. Howard and Nubin both struggled mightily last year and we haven’t recruited well behind them.

Most of the threes we are taking aren’t even bad shots, this team just simply cannot shoot.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT RUTGERS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Last two minutes were a microcosm of the Pitino era. Opportunities to win, but a combo of inept late game coaching combined with selfish and low IQ bball leads to a loss. We’ve given Pitino more than a fair shot and he just can’t get it done. Also, I’ve always respected Pitino for sticking w...

Good to know in these chaotic times that the constant of a February meltdown by Gopher hoops remains.

No Gophers in Townley's Updated Top 3 on 247

Agree. Safety play was atrocious last year, and very few prospects in the pipeline. DB talent in general is arguably the biggest concern we have. Also, could be coincidence, but I notice all of Townley’s schools have HC of Color. I wonder if that will be an increasingly important factor.

Official 2021 Gophers Football Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos etc

No expert, but tackles are generally taller/longer so as to be better pass protectors. Typically get smaller as you move further inside. My guess is that they want length across the board because it’s conducive to the zone blocking scheme we run. My initial post wasn’t a complaint, just an...

Official 2021 Gophers Football Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos etc

Haven’t done anything to substantiate this, but doesn’t it seem like the past few years all of our o-line recruits have been offensive tackles? I know the staff likes bigger o-lineman, and obviously would be pumped to get Saia, but just seems weird we don’t recruit guys who played guard/center...

Donation page to buyout Pitino - Fire Him!

Without knowing much about the exact finances of the situation, keeping Pitino around after this season will ensure the Barn is empty next year, costing millions of dollars and increased apathy in the program. We need to stop the bleeding. Coyle is gonna have to man up and be willing to take...

    Official Signing Day Thread

I’m a little surprised that this class is so weak at safety. Safety play was pretty brutal most of the year and we have razor thin depth. Especially with Avante waffling. I wonder if McGill or Dino will get moved from WR if they are struggling to crack the rotation.

The 5 biggest blunders P.J. Fleck has made in 2020 (1. More dudes on ‘D’)

Interesting question and I'm not sure of the answer, but my guess is it's low. I'm willing to revise my statement to simply "hiring Sanford."

Gophers need players like Ratzlaff to stay home if we are going to do well (see Coughlin, Martin, Barber). Makes it so much worse to lose him to Wisco when we are absolutely desperate for LB talent. Frustrating.

    Fleck's Ego

@Some Day...Maybe: No matter how Fleck’s tenure ends up, I will appreciate what he did to give us last year; by far the best gopher season of my life. But this year has made some things clear: Last year is owed in large part to non-Fleck recruits and our departed offensive coordinator. Fleck...

    Fleck's Ego

While there are many reasons to be absolutely disgusted tonight, what stood out to me is Fleck's ego. The unsportsmanlike penalty was costly -- and the decisions to play the starters at the end was both strategically questionable (Morgan has regressed a shocking amount) and incredibly selfish...

Sanford looks like a really bad hire so far. Play calling has been brutal and Morgan looks worse.
