I’m in shock-the good kind. Like another poster here, I was roped into a social event and missed the game. When I snuck out to check the score, I thought I was experiencing dyslexia. Did this bunch just beat Michigan? On the road? Unbelievable! Except now, people better start...
I may have missed something, but I’m puzzled by all the talk about Zach and Clark competing for the starting job with Tanner. Didn’t they both enter the transfer portal?
The team’s performance has confirmed what I’ve always thought: 1. A group of good shooters who are coachable/smart players are better than a bunch of freak athletes who can’t shoot. Pitino regularly recruited the latter. 2. Couple players who fit the first description with great coaching...
Both is what plays for blue bloods. We have to choose, at least for now. In the past we chose athletes over shooters. I vote we choose shooting over athleticism. Defense + shooting + smart play = more wins. Guys that can jump but can’t shoot are only good for slam dunk contests. I...
Wrong about not getting open looks. He got a TON of open looks this year and missed too often. He wasn’t the only one though. The whole team pretty much stunk with jump shots. As bad as he shot, a part of me wants to see him come back and turn the tables and light it up next year. Mostly...
Unless the defense collapses on the inside players, daring the shooting guards to shoot-which they did, and missed, over and over. Lacking good shooting from the wings impacts the whole offense negatively. Your analysis ignores this completely.
The word on him is that he is a good shooter and a sound player. I like hearing he isn’t a twig and hope he stays. We need a roster full of guys that can shoot.
It would take me some time to forgive Reuvers for his past transgression of choosing the stench of Buckyville, but I would get over it for one reason: Unlike 90% of our current roster, he can shoot.
Anyone under 6’7” must be a good shooter, except the PG who still needs to be at least average. That means Gach and Williams must go. Terrible shooters. Mashburn stays only if he is deemed a posible PG. Not worth keeping as a shooting guard. Keep Robbins for sure. No strong feelings...
Freeman never got enough minutes for any of us to evaluate him. Same with Mitchell. I thought they both played well enough in short spurts to deserve more minutes in a few of our blowout losses, but Pitino wouldn’t play them. I get why Pitino loved Curry after overcoming his multiple...
Not a big loss. Below average Big10 player. Poor shooter and just OK handles. Should not be hard to find someone better in the portal. Coach Johnson gets it: good shooters are first priority with the roster.
Garcia, Walton and Battle would make us all real happy. They can all shoot. Keep Robbins. Add a point guard or two and we are in business. Of course I’m dreaming.
I’m super glad coach Johnson mentioned the need to recruit better shooters. In my view, that was Pitino’s greatest downfall. This year we had one of the greatest collections of shooting guards and wings who can’t shoot I have ever seen. It is like playing football with a team of receivers...
Of course they had choices far better than Pitino. Won’t that also be the case with Johnson? If that’s the issue, then Johnson won’t sign any of those local guys either. It sounds to me like the issue was more that the boosters and parents just didn’t like Pitino. That could be different...
I’m still a bit in shock, but here’s my thought on this: Pitino seemed to focus on the top 1-2 highly rated MN kids in each class that would have been great to get, but he probably didn’t have much of a chance at getting (for whatever reasons-fill in the blank).
In my view, there were a...
