Who has led the Gophers to the NCAA tournament?

I know you are truncating the list of top players. Just want to point out there were 6 NBA players when you include Bob Martin & Richard Coffey. Quite a group!

High-flying Division II transfer Parker Fox talked to Gophers among long list of suitors

Doubt it. Wasn't a listed recruit and went D2. Would seem to imply no Div I offers at the time.

Who has led the Gophers to the NCAA tournament?

This is excellent work. It touches on some work I'm doing and we're reaching the same conclusion. An all-Minnesota team will never happen, even with great in-state talent and ('til soon) the only D1 program. Gone are the days when NBA players come in and play as a reserve for two years before...

Yes! Silly me! I'm so old I remember when guys had to sit out a year.

    Race in the portal

Where do things stand on intra-conference transfers for B1G? I seem to remember at one point is was non-scholarship only. Then not? Doesn't come up often. Laurence Funderburke, Micah Potter, and maybe Sam Okey are all I can recall. Memory fuzzy.

Wow. What a great junior year. C'mon, back to Minnesota!

    AAU vs. Highschool recruiting

This is touching on something I am working on. Recruiting rankings are from giant lists, while ultimate success is dependent upon other things like character, chemistry, and an ability or willingness to get better. Kevin Noreen & Mike Brusewitz showed rather high on recruiting lists. Jordan...

    AAU vs. Highschool recruiting

I don't know enough about Oturu to answer. Just glad he chose the Gophers. If you enjoy watching college basketball it may be better to not look into how awful things are behind the curtain. No shortage of stuff to read if you are bold enough to go there. Like this...

    AAU vs. Highschool recruiting

Summer basketball is a cesspool of the highest proportion. Teams are funded by the shoe companies and the expectation is that they deliver kids to the right colleges. There is no accountability in terms of receipts for expense reports to show how the adidas or Nike money is spent by the guys...

The Golden Era of the Golden Gophers and its impact of expectations

Good stuff. I've had similar thoughts. Buried in a huge Excel file tracking recruitable Minnesota basketball players and also chronicling the Gophers' incoming group each year. Yet to reach my conclusion, but I have an idea where this is pointing.

    Welcome home Walt McGregory?

I'm not. He played one minute this year. He's never even been considered when I map out B1G teams going 9-10 guys deep. I'm sure he's a real good basketball player. At Wisconsin, he's used to fill out a practice.

    Welcome home Walt McGregory?

I think his name is McGrory. Walk-on that did not play for Wisconsin. I'm not sure where home is. He won't play for the U of M. Grad transfer, my assumption is he wants to get minutes somewhere and take classes toward an advanced degree.

FIRE COYLE!!!!!! If he has hired Ben Johnson

This totally reminds me of when Wisconsin hired Barry Alvarez to coach their football team.

    AAU vs. Highschool recruiting

Summer. That's when they see kids against other top players. I saw Vince Carter, Amare Stoudemire, Austin Rivers, and several other McD's kids in HS. You knew they were by far the best on the floor but weren't always sure how they'll handle college situations until you see them in big summer...

    Press Conference at 11:00 CDT

Makes sense in general terms. McDonald's types (TEN from Minnesota since 2014!) are easily the Tier I, but who exactly are the Tier II guys? Like ranked 51-150 on lists. 2021 - Treyton Thompson (Minnesota) & Will Tschetter (Michigan) 2020 - Dain Dainja (RS at Baylor), Ben Carlson (played 64...

What does Coach Johnson do with the transfer portal?

Google his name and you'll see he was considered an NBA prospect back in 2015. I'm afraid he's too old to become one now. Could easily get there and play games, but it won't be through the draft.

    Drew Peterson commits to Gophers!

He bailed and went to USC. Johnson & Robbins did great for the U of M. Easy come, easy go on recruiting transfers.

What does Coach Johnson do with the transfer portal?

I'd imagine he does what every coach does. He'll scan the list and try to fill known holes.
