All Things Gophers Basketball Class of 2022 Recruiting Thread

Yep. Of course, right now they don’t have either - or any of them! Will be interesting to see how they handle Holloman. We’re in a good spot and they have the luxury of grabbing two prep lead guards (although that might not be their plan), but will they wait? I haven’t heard a timeline for him...

    UGH! Ihnen Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Battle (and I really hope I did not just curse him).

    This isn't going as planned

Waiting around for Mitchell and Manley doesn’t look great in hindsight and you could arguably say that was handled poorly, but the rest? Not sure about that. Seeing what he was doing makes sense considered he was hired in March and did not have a chance to recruit 2021s. He wants to turn over...

    UGH! Ihnen Suffers Season-Ending Injury

I can agree with that. I actually thought they would surprise this year, but at some point depth is going to be an issue in the Big Ten and going with four forwards/centers is not going to spell success. Not that five would - but I expected a big step by Isaiah this year. I understand why Ben...

    UGH! Ihnen Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Horrible news. Best wishes to Isaiah in his recovery. Not sure how, but they need to find some size. They needed size before Ihnen got hurt, but unless Fox comes back earlier than expected, we’re screwed. Remaining healthy players better get in the best shape of their lives. They’re all going...

All Things Pharrel Payne Recruiting Thread (Class of 2022; Gophers Have Offered)

Love where we stand with Pharrel and reports on his play this summer.

No kidding. Looks like Illinois and Baylor were at his game as well as Minnesota (not sure if it was for Pharrel or others).

No problem. I assume Minnesota had a coach watching Josh at some point. Not sure it would have been Ben as he was probably chasing around Tre, Carrington, Payne and Watson at other tournaments.

A&M saw him play at an AAU tournament in Alabama yesterday and guess they decided to offer. Ben and staff are well aware of Josh - he visited a few weeks ago. Have to assume he is a bit lower on their board right now - especially with Demarion Watson still out there.

    This isn't going as planned

Absolutely. Majority of their top priorities right now are still uncommitted. The coaches are all out watching them this weekend - going from gym to gym across many states. I have faith it will pay off.

    Eric Curry

Eating crow as well. Seemed like both were a possibility for quite awhile, and then down to probably Manley, so to end up with neither one kind of sums up the last 3.5 months of Gopher basketball. Ben said on his Instagram Live yesterday that he liked his team as is, so guess we’ll see what they...

So brutal. I think a recruit or two would help a lot right now.

    Eric Curry

LOL But of course. With Willis back on the team, Ben recruiting him to the U, needing help in the front court - it makes sense. I hope it works out for all! EC deserves to have a good and healthy season.

    Dawson Garcia enters transfer portal

Race Thompson, the kid from A&M that seemed like a certainty until it wasn’t, Brandon Johnson staying at MN until he didn’t, Liam not transferring right away, Parker Fox tearing his ACL, etc. I’m guessing he focused on both - things just haven’t fallen their way with frontcourt players.

    Dawson Garcia enters transfer portal

Hey, at least he didn’t take a personal shot at Ben for once. Too bad about Garcia. Assumed we were a long shot, but still need to find two more bigs. Might have to settle for one at this point.

Maroon and gold looks good on Pharrel!
