Gophers see opportunity to thrive if they 'live in the paint'

I'd been thinking along these lines (how to incorporate FTs to rim/close 2s shot value) in my posts in the 3s thread the other day, but they were already getting TL;DR...I think generally I'd just count every 2 FT attempts as one shot equivalent and then add the points from the makes. I'm really...

    3s

Thanks! What I'd really like to be able to see, more detailed than the topline Close/Far/3s buckets, is breakdowns on how they're getting the rim 2s they get - I'm always interested in detail like that, but particularly with a team like this, much more efficient at the rim than anywhere else...

    3s

Even more specifically, they have to figure out how to emphasize getting the ball inside to Garcia and JOJ or Payne (when they're able to stay on the court). I'm sure you know this, but there's a considerable difference in value between 2s at the rim and all other 2s. Via T-Rank I looked at the...

Gophers legend Mychal Thompson renews his support with help from Ben Johnson

Klay Thompson played at Washington State from 2008-11, and one of Mychal's other sons Mychel played at Pepperdine from 2007-11. (They spent their entire childhoods on the West coast; the two of them were not really connected to the state of Minnesota at all other than their father being there 30...

Pretty sure Jack Wilson is also one of those 7. (Don't know when Parker Fox's birthdate is but he could be too)

Uncle Ed and his Citadel team up 16 on Shrewsberry's Notre Dame at the under-8 timeout. (Man, Notre Dame is bad. Their game against Louisville will be a real Sickos matchup)

Nebraska getting a win at Kansas State would be a little helpful for the league too (and good for the Gophers specifically).

UNLV closing this out would interestingly make Creighton 0-2 vs Mountain West teams and 8-0 vs everyone else (including 2-0 vs the B1G).

A lot depends on financial positioning, but with the caveat that I don't know their situations in that respect, I could see both Oklahoma State and West Virginia looking to make moderate-to-big swings with their next hires. Also, do we think DeVries gets in the mix for any of these jobs (i.e...

Predictably for a Wisconsin-Virginia game, there were only 55 possessions...giving up 65 points in that slow a game is not great (indeed though, even worse O).

***OFFICIAL SOMETHING CALLED USC UPSTATE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Some factors here: 1) We've got improvements so far relative to last year in FT% from Garcia, Ola-Joseph, and Carrington (only slightly in his case, but it is an improvement). 2) Removing some pretty poor FT% guards from the roster in Cooper, Henley, and my namesake; none of them shot better...

Oregon State is not good (to understate it) but that's a 20 point neutral court power conference win for Nebraska. Think they've had all 5 games with D efficiencies under 100; with how soft the middle/lower-middle of the conference has looked my intrigue level in them is slightly raised.

Even with poor non-conference slate, 21 wins should get the Gophers a ticket to the Madness

Yeah, Isaiah Thompson, formerly with Purdue, didn't play last night. Led FGCU in scoring last year. I believe he was mentioned as a possible Gophers portal target when he was in it after the '22 season.
