All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

I watched the first half of the game last night and I have to amend my earlier post. The wolves will go 103-0, including preseason games. A few very premature observations: 1. JJ Reddick is one of my favorite NBA people. He was coaching his first game last night and he looked like he was...

Gobert's cheaper contract didn't change the fact that somebody had to go. The issue for me was who they got in return. Randle and Ant kill ball movement and Randle will be playing for his next contract. The offense (17th last year) could look worse. DD is a very nice addition, if somebody...

All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Highly unlikely 33 year old Rudy is going to opt out of a $46M pay day. Almost equally unlikely another contending team has the space to sign him to a long term deal. The wolves couldn't plan for Rudy to walk from $46M. Paying KAT, Rudy, Ant max contracts and Jaden close to max puts the wolves...

Once Rudy arrived there wasn't going to be room for all of the big contracts, so somebody had to go.

I don't think the trade is official yet. Probably because Lore and ARod don't have the money...;)

Ant will be spending the winter in Iowa working on his game.

I just don't see any way that Randle and Donte don't finish first and second in the MVP race! :)

DirecTV to Acquire Dish in Merger of Satellite TV Rivals

I switched from Xfinity cable to DirectV streaming when Xfinity booted Bally Sports North in May and I hate it. I'm going to cancel, pay the penalty and head back to cable.

I understand your point perfectly. I don't agree with it.

Precisely. Gerson Rosas has an affair with another employee and he's gone. Anthony Edwards, Gerson's pick, can sleep with virtually anyone he wants and he stays. POBO's come and go. It's the players who have the leverage.

Don’t agree. Connelly is certainly a valued employee, but he’s an employee. He’s not even a star player. The owners always have the power.

ARod is window dressing. Lore and Bloomberg (if he really is a part of it) have the money.

All Things 2024 Minnesota Timberwolves Off-Season Thread

I'll keep "caterwauling" about the Rudy trade until they win a championship with him because that's expressly what they brought him here to do. The day he arrived meant that another valuable player would have to ultimately leave. If they had won a title, that would have been well worth the...

We needed much better interior defense to beat the Mavs. I still have PTSD watching their centers soar for lob dunks. Donte and Randle aren't going to help with that. Donte isn't going to have as many opportunities for catch and shoots if you have two ball stoppers (Ant and Randle).

This trade indicates that Glen is highly confident that he is keeping the franchise. It's strictly a salary cap move because the team just got worse. I wasn't opposed to trading KAT but the return made the roster clunky and diminished the wolves short term championship aspirations. Randle is...

Nick Saban quote on Florida football applies to Minnesota basketball too

It has nothing to do with patsies on the field. It's about money. As the players become more expensive the big revenue generators aren't going to want to subsidize the schools that can't raise any money.
