    Homecoming Game Announced

Early/mid 40s here. Oldest kid is a high schooler...DEFINITELY heard HOCO before and cringed when I first heard it. I've resigned myself to the fact that if I battle youth slang I'm just accelerating the "get off my lawn" aging process.

Greg Eslinger inducted into CFB Hall of Fame.

While not a Gopher, Blake Elliott of SJU D3 fame also going in the 2025 class.

    Memorial Stadium

I finally found the image I was looking for. This is my personal memory of Memorial Stadium as I am too young to have watched a game there. My old man brought me down to campus during a trip to the Twin Cities and we walked around, saw construction of the aquatic center while I took in the...

Are there any photos of the aquatic center construction taking place inside the still standing stadium?

    Memorial Stadium

I am more of a viewer than a poster on this board, but hands down this thread has been one of my favorites to read through. Sadly I was too young to take in a game at Memorial Stadium but have memories of it falling in disrepair before demolition. Simpler times, college shenanigans. GREAT...

    Memorial Stadium

This has been my thought as well. Sadly the Gophers don't need a 14k capacity. What would it look like if revamped to a 10k seat arena with modern creature comforts. I'm assuming the cost of renovation would be close to starting new.

    2025 Away Games Travels

We took a tour of Wrigley with kids over MEA break. It's still very much a dump, but with nice video boards in the outfield and the plaza development along the west side of stadium. Most high schools probably have locker rooms as nice as the visitor's clubhouse.

    2025 Away Games Travels

Devil's advocate here...because it's early in the school year, it is a great time to pull kids out of school?

Cobbers/Dragons was a great rivalry to start the season. The NE corner of Concordia's campus and SW corner of MSUM are a block apart. There were years where the visiting team would walk to the other campus.

    My Big Ten Power Rankings

Agreed on winning one of the last two in order to feel "good". USC, UCLA, and maybe Illinois are looking at their loss to us as a missed opportunity, just as we do the UNC, Michigan, and Rutgers losses. I am loving the balance of the Big Ten this year. Seven teams currently sit at 4-3, 4-4, or 3-4

2024 MN High School Football thread

I agree on Staples-Motley, they are not a regular in football but have some impressive wins. Super intrigued by 5A and 6A games. Minnetonka was playing with Maple Grove earlier in the year before a couple bad 2nd half turnovers flipped the game. Elk River/Alexandria should be a great game on...

Lack of planning and trying to do everything on the cheap. Containing the crowds to a finite space, you have less cleanup, bathroom services, crowd control, etc. to pay for.

In the past it made sense, Concordia ran an offense that was atypical to the rest of the league, which required extra preparation. Now that Concordia has moved to a "modern" offense, I'm not sure what to attribute it to.

All Things 2024 College Football D2 and D3 Thread

I was a bit surprised to see the Bethel/Concordia score so lopsided. Concordia was the only team to play SJU to a one-score game all season and actually led most of the game before a 14pt Johnnie rally late in the game. I know the first Bethel/SJU game was earlier in the season - it looks like...

They were in many ways the OG, but a victim of a static business model with demographic changes skewing away from rural to suburban/urban living, along with expanded offerings of premium products where people shop on a weekly basis (grocery, Target/Walmart, Costco/Sam's).
