Change the kickoff rules to this?

I guess that's better than the nearly automatic touchback they have now but I wish they'd just go back to kicking off from the 30 and touchbacks going to the 20 like it used to be. This doesn't look as exciting as a normal kickoff.

    NCAA Signing Cap—Colorado

Unless transfers become more restricted again I think this is going to be the way things go. There's minimal loyalty from anyone and most loyalty is to the coach rather than the school. If the players can and do decide they want to leave their current school and go somewhere else without sitting...

    QB Recruiting Under Fleck

Good write up. Duggan is the biggest what-if by far, we could have potentially had 3 straight 10+ or maybe even 11+ win seasons (only counting full seasons) with him here. At the same time, we could have just as easily started him before he was ready in 2019, had a much less impressive season...

Tanner on Mo: "I don't think anybody should ever wear the number 24 ever again at this university for what he's meant to the culture, to the team.''

In the 2080s some Gopher fans won't care about Mo and will think it's wrong to compare the star at the time to him. There's a good chance there will be 20 games a season and more safety rules that shift the game in favor of the offense so someone else will eventually break all of Mo's records...

Chip: The Big Ten should put an end to bowl arrangements held in baseball stadiums because field conditions deteriorate and threaten player safety.

There are 32% more non-contact knee injuries and 69% more non-contact foot and ankle injuries on turf than grass in the NFL. Turf might be more consistent and better in extreme weather but grass is safer.

Tanner on Mo: "I don't think anybody should ever wear the number 24 ever again at this university for what he's meant to the culture, to the team.''

2 of those 4 are unlikely to be drafted and Johnson went 161st overall. 278 Gophers have been drafted and 152 of them before Johnson. Some of that, especially for Mo, is their style of play not matching with the current style NFL teams are looking for but the majority of those 152 are on the...

Tanner on Mo: "I don't think anybody should ever wear the number 24 ever again at this university for what he's meant to the culture, to the team.''

There are 103 players currently on the roster and a handful of shared numbers already. Even if you were to double up every available number you still would need about 60 numbers which means you can only retire 40. With the 140 year history of the Gophers, that's one every 3.5 years without even...

Another dirty play by Syracuse. That looked intentional.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS SYRACUSE PINSTRIPE BOWL IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Big Ten needs to end the affiliation with this bowl. No excuse for a field this bad for a college football game.

Syracuse saves 5-10 seconds from getting to line up before the clock runs here.

Tweet: NYC bowl game, band gets 1 night housing then late flight home, arriving 2am to MN winter & closed dorms. The level of CHEAP is mind boggling.

DCI is the closest thing to professional marching band there is, although it's not professional - generally costs about $5k for the summer. As someone who did a summer of DCI and a few bowl trips with the band, the two aren't comparable. DCI is about $50-75 a day, bowl trips are free (not...

    2024 NCAA Football EA sports

I would love to see recruiting and roster management change significantly from the last game. With the points system, once you were one of the better teams you couldn't afford to lose too many recruiting battles or you'd end up with a really thin draft class or needing to pick up 2 stars late in...

    Northern Bowl Games

Would be nice to see the Pinstripe Bowl go away or at least have the Big Ten drop it and add indoor bowl games in Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and St. Louis. It's a shame that teams in the south have many chances to get bowl games that are nearly home games because so many of the games are down...

OFFICIAL: Minnesota vs Syracuse in Pinstripe Bowl

They should have had that conversation last year, if they did it clearly didn't work.

OFFICIAL: Minnesota vs Syracuse in Pinstripe Bowl

3 bowl games in a row getting jumped by at least 1 team with a worse record. At some point it's no longer a coincidence. I know it won't happen but I'd love to see Fleck and Coyle stop the good PR responses and call out the Big Ten for favoritism. There's no way one of their special teams...

Wisconsin made a bold move, do we have the nerve to do the same?

He missed one inside 30 yards against Purdue. 2 short missed kicks in your 2 closest losses is pretty bad. Fleck's job is to lead the football team and a big part of that is winning games. If he's doing a poor job of winning big games he deserves criticism.

Wisconsin made a bold move, do we have the nerve to do the same?

He recruited the kicker who missed the FG. He overworked his star running back which probably contributed to the fumble. He put together an offense where he feels like he needs to overwork his star running back to have a chance. Not saying it's time to fire him but at this point the...

SOUND OFF!!! Post Game Thread!! Gophers Dominate 2nd Half, Beat Huskers Again!

My biggest complaint about Fleck and his staff has been that they can't adapt, if the gameplan doesn't work they can't adjust and come back. They found out how to do it today. Great adjustments, great QB change, great second half. Feels like we'd be 7-1 if we played like that in the second half...

    We've stagnated. Tough conversation below

Fleck has the best winning percentage for a Gopher coach since Bernie Bierman. There were 13 worse coaches between them and only 4 of those 13 had a winning record. Odds are that Fleck's replacement will be worse. It's not like there are a pile of amazing coaches we are passing up to keep...
