    Who 👃an Upset on Saturday?

I think Penn State is more likely to win but our odds of winning are better than the spread implies. We are both 3-0 against common opponents with similar margins of victories in 2 of those games. They've won some games by a lot but they've only played one really good team and lost to them...

Golden Gophers in the NFL - 2024 Season

I've seen a few comments saying he snapped his ankle or lower leg and is likely done for the season. I hope that's wrong but the lack of a replay during the game or even online after is a bad sign.

fake punt call in the illinois game

I didn't like the timing of it, it flipped momentum and that was a lot of yards to get. I like the aggression though and would much rather have an occasional fake at the wrong time than never doing anything aggressive.

Any chance Max could stay around next year to coach Drake?

It seems like he should make a practice squad or roster somewhere. He's not going to be an NFL starter without major improvement or injury issues but if a guy or two ahead of him go down, he seems like he should be able to run an offense, make the throws he should make, and avoid catastrophic...

    Beat wisconsin or Penn State?

The question said pick one to win and nothing about the other. I pick Penn State and think if we win that we have a strong shot at beating Wisconsin the next week, especially if you add a win at Rutgers and we're on a 6 game winning streak.

Post Game Thread: Gophers BEAT Bielema!!! Win 4 Straight!!

The win, becoming bowl eligible, and finally beating Bielema were all great to see. The change in PJ's approach is even better to see and more impactful for the future. Other than some prevent defense earlier on the final drive, he stayed aggressive on both sides of the ball with the lead. He...

What grade would you give the Gophers coaches in the big win over Illinois?

I went with A but on the edge of B+/A-. I didn't like the fake punt given the situation or the defense playing so soft on the last drive but we got the W and we could have won a lot more with better execution on some missed tackles and bad throws.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT ILLINOIS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Willing to take a stupid risk on the fake punt and now they sit back playing prevent defense. I don't get how they decide when to be aggressive and when to be conservative.

Post Game Thread: Gophers win 3rd in a row, CRUSH Maryland!

Huge win for bowl eligibility and showing what we can do. On top of all of the things on the field, coaching was great and looks way different than past years with PJ. A few years ago I could have seen us running twice, getting to 3rd and long, and ending up punting on most drives. Would have...

    Trap game

I don't think a game where you're only favored by 4 could be considered a trap game. On paper it should be close and a bad bounce or turnover could decide the game.

Where does the USC win rank in the Gophers' P.J. Fleck era?

In terms of how impressive it was, I'd put it 3rd behind Penn State and Auburn. Behind Wisconsin 2018 too if you consider the margin of the win and not just the end result. In terms of excitement to be at, it's probably second or third behind Penn State and possibly Auburn. The Auburn game is...

So do we love PJ again?

Too early to fully judge the season but the win helps. It's still going to be a fight to get to 6-6 which should be the bare minimum. We're also still 0-2 against rivals this season so there's a lot of pressure on the last 2 weeks. Anything less than 6-6 with at least 1 of those wins coming...

    "Simulating brandishing a weapon" penalty

If that's a penalty, shouldn't USC get a penalty every time their mascot brandishes his sword?

***OFFICIAL USC AT MINNESOTA MAROON AND GOLD BATTLE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Defensive line looks rough, giving him 5+ seconds to pass and not doing much on most of the runs. Going to be tough to win unless they improve.

I am not a conspiracy theory guy but..,

Even if there's not a conspiracy, the conference employs the referees and the referees are aware that certain outcomes will help viewership and interest in the conference which will help the conference financially long-term. Those outcomes are having teams go into big games (ex. Ohio State vs...

Is it time to admit PJ (and staff) can coach?

Maybe it was watching on TV today vs the rest in person but I saw less of this today than in the earlier games. Seems like most of the issues were due to Michigan having more guys near the ball blocking than we had defenders and a few defenders taking bad routes.

What grade would you give Gophers coaches in loss to Michigan?

F in the first half, A in the second half, averages out to a C.

MN v MI Post Game Thread: Gophers Ball Out in 2nd Half

A moral victory is better than a blowout and the offsides was objectively a blown call but at the end of the day, loses against rivals in back to back weeks is tough. We get another shot at rivals in back to back games at the end of the season, if we can win both of those (even with bad calls in...

Is it time to admit PJ (and staff) can coach?

The commentators figured out what was working for us on both sides of the ball a couple of drives before the coaching staff did.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN BATTLE FOR THE LITTLE BROWN JUG IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Michigan hit one from 53 that looked like it would have been good from close to 60. Not automatic but still a bad miss and he already had a season's worth of bad misses coming into today.
