Think you have unbiased rankings? I built a quiz for you to test yourself.

The running theme here seems to be 10-14 is pretty fluid for everyone. Not a simple task for the committee! But count me among the people who feels SMU should be in regardless of what happens in the conference championship game.

A forecast of Gophers football’s biggest needs once transfer portal opens

The staff has been incredible at identifying DBs in the portal. Aside from Ethan Robinson and Jack Henderson currently, they were also right about Tre'Von Jones and Beanie Bishop (though he wasn't a fit here, he clearly was a talent). I wonder if one of the current safeties will take the Jack...

    Gopher Defense

There's something to what you're saying... Here's D-line raw stats: 18.5 TFL in 2024; 26.5 TFL in 2023 11 sacks in 2024; 20 sacks in 2023 28 QB hits in 2024; 21 in 2023 I think the raw numbers are going to end up similar to last year, with the exception of QB hits. Anyone know where you can...

    Gopher Defense

I ran across this post today, which shows that the Gopher defense creates the highest percentage of "havoc" plays in the country out of their secondary. What's a havoc play? It's a TFL, FF, Int, deflected pass, or pass break up. Digging a bit deeper, here's some raw stats from the Gopher...

    Illinois Point Spread

The original poster on X referenced that it was a "Game of the Year line" and that all the lines came from DraftKings. I'm not a bettor, so I'm not clear on what that means... Perhaps there are certain games that books post earlier than others? Certainly Oregon - Michigan was a game of...

    Illinois Point Spread

The original Michigan / Oregon line was strange.

Is it time to admit PJ (and staff) can coach?

This is pretty much identical to my feelings. The only comment I want to add is about the teams fading in '17 and '23. PJ talks a lot about players leading, but it does appear that player leadership is very reliant on player ability, specifically at QB. Some of this is clearly connected to...

    Illinois Point Spread

I'm a pretty big fan of Parker Fleming's work at collegefootballinsiders.com. Here's his preview of the game: https://www.collegefootballinsiders.com/matchup_preview/?team1=Minnesota&team2=Illinois Basically a coin flip, with home field providing an advantage in his model. It looks like...

    2025 Road game

I went to Cal for the last trip there and had a great time. Ended up talking with Marion Barber, Jr. for about half a quarter -- he was incredibly gracious, granted the game was over by that point. Berkeley has a great game day experience. You can get there via BART and there are plenty of bars...

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

There's been several references to various technologies that could be implemented for spotting the ball or determining whether it crosses the goal line. Just a few clarifying comments and addtional info: VAR in soccer is principally built on a 8-12 camera system, and a connected ball was also...

    KC and AK

It was KC, but it was also the personnel. Morgan might have been capable of running a different system, but doing so would have negated some of tradecraft he'd developed. You can say the same about several of the offensive linemen we had through last season, and AK had been groomed in the same...

Why not be more skeptical of a newly hired head football coach here at Minnesota and more supportive of the existing coach?

2019 was the best Gopher season of my life, and is likely to stay that way. How easily we seem to forget that season was filled with Great Escapes during the non-conference schedule; the team very easily could have been 0-3 at the start of B1G play. Rather than assume 2019 was going to be some...

Cam Christie is entering the Transfer Portal

Final big boards and mocks are getting posted. ESPN Insider (Jonathan Givony) has Cam as his #32 prospect. The Ringer (Kevin O'Connor) has Cam as his #43 prospect. So the range is late first to mid-second -- we'll know in a few days.

8 seasons in under Fleck, how do we feel about our strength & conditioning program?

This is somewhat tangential, but I'd like to see the U of M show a dedication to sport science and biomechanics across the entire athletic department to the benefit of all sports and certain schools at the University. But a strategic initiative requiring that level of vision and dedication is...

Cam Christie is entering the Transfer Portal

Yup, Cam hasn't put in any work and is entirely a product of how poor everyone around him is.:rolleyes::rolleyes: So many posts in this thread that show an incapability to be happy for or give credit to other people.

Cam Christie is entering the Transfer Portal

Agreed. It would be shocking for any 18 year old without a five-star pedigree to pass on the chance to be drafted in the first round. 20 is the highest range I've seen for Cam anywhere. If that was the feedback he got from teams, it's a no brainer for him to stay in the draft.

Interesting: Who are the 5 best coaches in college football?

I'll lob in a Mike Gundy nomination. Never been the biggest program in his state and also sits in the shadow of the two big Texas schools. Always has a winning season and frequently wins 10+. He may not be Top 5, but I think comfortably Top 10. And the hair is immaculate.

Your thoughts on the new Gophers uniforms?

I love names and numbers without outlines, but wish we had an ‘M’ like that for the helmet as well. Right now my favorite is GMG.

    Can staying in the draft

There is more that goes into the evals than this, but for those that are still skeptical of Cam's draft prospects... Cam and Bub Carrington are the youngest college players in the draft by a fair amount (they are 6+ months younger than Rob Dillingham, the next youngest) Both Cam and Carrington...
