STrib: Marcus Carr gets emotional after what could be his last game with Gophers

One of the best and grittiest players in the Pitino era. Maybe in the last 20 years for the Gophers. Too bad Pitino couldn't draw up and run a successful offense that helped him thrive. I honestly don't blame Carr for being a ball hog at times when nobody else can shoot, there lies the issue.

    Bruce Weber?

Wow. I thought just this year was bad. Last year was a stinker too. He probably isn't a modern day college coach anymore. It'd probably be like bringing on a Tubby Smith again.

    Bruce Weber?

KSU had a bad year, seems like he has had an issue with the AD and some players this year. Had great success with Illinois in the Big 10. He can recruit and is a well known coach. Just thought, maybe he'd consider the MN job? He's 64. This could be considered a stupid thought/post...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS NORTHWESTERN BIG TEN TOURNAMENT WEAKLING WEDNESDAY IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

We will lose by 10 or more in this one and Pitino will be forced to Uber to wherever his new home will be. It is evident that this team is depleted and maybe just not very good without Robbins and Gabe. Like, Nebraska bad.

STrib: With all-white leadership, Gophers athletic department under fresh scrutiny to improve diversity; Coyle has hired 11 white head coaches

I could care less if the staff is white, black, purple, Hispanic, Latino, Native American. They're all people and American citizens that have worked hard to get to where they are. Hire the best people. Don't play into the race/diversity card. I want us to hire the best head coach available.

ESPN: Greg McDermott suspended by Creighton after racially insensitive comments

I would love to have McDermott coaching our Gophers. Perfect guy to bring on. So, he offended a few woke people and sincerely apologized. What he said was off base, yes, but give the guy a second chance here in MN.

Doogie on Gophers HC job: Miles would have interest in the job; Sam Mitchell would love this job; Marquette outworked Gophers staff for Dawson Garcia

Hard pass on both. Mitchell I guess as a last resort. Tim Miles would be worse than our current HC IMO.

Coaching Search from the Collegiate Coaching Consortium - (Formerly the Villa 7 Consortium)

Chris Finch will be available. Ryan Saunders as his assistant! Bring on all that winning culture!

What will you miss about Richard Pitino?

Nothing. Seemed like a great guy but his coaching skills were lacking at the BIG level. He should either be in the BIG booth announcing games as a color guy like Belein or coaching a Small D1 Program like he did before at Florida INTL.

    Next Gopher Head Coach

Our five star recruits certainly don't select MN under Pitino at least.

    Next Gopher Head Coach

I hope so! I am not sure how desirable frigid MN is. I live in AZ and it seems even ASU isn't that desirable for top level coaches and even in-state recruits. I think a lot of people think that because the Gophers are in the BIG it will attract top level talent and coaching. I think that...

    Next Gopher Head Coach

Couldn't agree more with you there. They thought they had that in Pitino, but it's just too up and down with him. Would you think Ryan Saunders might be good? He is not going to cut it with the Wolves, but maybe a better college coach?

Starting Lineup and Minutes the Rest of the Way

I like Mashburn at PG. I think Carr is honestly a better two guard. His game is a lot like Deangelo Russell at least in comparison to a high level college player. Obviously, Carr is not as polished and is not an NBA caliber player, I don't think. He's better off at the two spot. I think they...

    Next Gopher Head Coach

I would love to bring in John Bellien. Though, I think Pitino will be gifted one more chance next year if Carr returns they could have a decent squad with the development of Mashburn and it looks like Tre Williams may be coming into his own. Pitino will never get this team to the upper level of...

Minnesota is still in while Maryland is out in the latest edition of Bubble Watch

You're probably right but we'd have a play-in game more than likely or a high seed. I think a true road win like tonight combined with those wins at 17-10 would get us a quality seed like a #6 or 7.

Minnesota is still in while Maryland is out in the latest edition of Bubble Watch

True. But, if we happen to lose every road game this season we are not going to make the NCAA. I still think they need to win tonight to solidify making it. 16 wins should get it done, having a nice quality road win in there will go a long way.

Minnesota is still in while Maryland is out in the latest edition of Bubble Watch

Minnesota will likely fall to first four out if they lose tonight. You simply cannot go winless on the road during a Covid19 season with no fans and expect a lot of praise from the committee. Regardless, of us beating 3 top-10 teams at home. This game tonight is crucial. It's a make or break...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT INDIANA IN-GAME THREAD***

It really should be Ihnen, but Pitino values the guys that have put in the time, so it will be Curry who will give up three easy layups and a dunk and draw 2 fouls within the first 6 minutes. I know Indiana is small, but they play fast paced, they cannot shoot 3's, so Curry better be able to...

Positives from last night---Mashburn Jr & Ihnen

My take on Tre is that he is improving as he gets more minutes. He still makes some questionable decisions like that drive late in the game where he had a wide-open put in, but elected to try and dump it off to Johnson, I believe. He also dribbles too much sometimes and takes some ill advised...
