Ben Johnson is NOT a disaster....

Lest you forget (I know some of you are not old enough to have actually experienced this), Clem Haskins first 2 seasons as Gopher coach: 9th of the then 10 teams. 2-16, then 4-14.

Tough call on what was play of game. There were many great moments in the comeback! On what was biggest, but this was definitely HUGE!There were several. Any of Fox’s blocks, JOJ’s monster fast break dunk of the Hawkins dime, Garcia taking the ball to the hoop in the final minute, to get that...

Thank you. Now we are getting somewhere ???? Now you return to ridiculous. When an underdog team loses a game by 2 points to a top 20 team because the players make some mistakes on the court, to lay blame for that loss on the coach is not reasonable. He deserves credit for putting them in a...

Hmmm? I wouldn’t count on that. I watched them beat both Illinois and Purdue. Buie can really distribute, they have a number of shooters, make few mistakes, great ball movement, and their Bigs are very reliable. They are a dangerous team, now 6-3. And Collins is a very good coach!

Actually, yes, you are missing something. As I’ve pointed out before on this forum to compare the Gophers to the upper echelon of the Big Ten in the 3rd year of a new coach coming into a largely broken, program is what is known as a false equivalency. Although all losses hurt, no one should...

You must be a very young person. Never saw a Dan Monson coached team? Hate to say it, but in the years I have had season tickets, I have seen many horrible half’s, both in The Barn and on the road. As far as the 2nd half, may rank among the top ten greatest comebacks — too bad you missed it.

Great win. First half very discouraging. But these guys don’t give up. I know there are those who do not want the team to succeed so Ben will get fired and their dire prognostications will come true. I think he should get some credit for turning things around at halftime of this game. If you...

I watched that game. Their guards were unstoppable and they turned WI over a lot. Credit to the Gophers, and dare I say it, the Gopher coaching staff.

Will be a great point guard matchup. I have a notion we may see JOJ back in the starting lineup. Hitting FT’s is a combination of WHO goes to the line and the “head” game. Garcia needs to be aggressive in the paint on O w/o fouling. Guards need to go to the hoop.

Stop blaming Ben for the close losses!

That’s not what was meant by my comment and you know it. You guys are like Trump. You mischaraxterize what is said by others and distort reality to fit your preconceived narrative.

Stop blaming Ben for the close losses!

Now this, I agree with. Let’s hope we all want a win! PSU is not an easy out. Nor is N’W next Saturday in spite of those who minimize their accomplishments this season. Will not be easy to stop this skid, no matter who the coach is.

Stop blaming Ben for the close losses!

Never said you can’t criticize. It’s a free country. Just a lot of haters who rarely set foot on campus. I’ve had tickets since I was a student during the Muss years with exception of leaving the state for a few years to go to grad school. Criticize all you want. I will continue to believe your...

Not going to re-argue all the points that have already been made on the disaster thread. You guys have nothing new to say. (Btw, I didn’t say you didn’t watch, I said many of you haters don’t go to the games.)

Stop blaming Ben for the close losses!

You’re showing how little you know about the game. N’W is 5-3 in the B1G and has beaten Purdue and Illinois. It takes time to win. We start one freshman and 3 sophomores get significant minutes.

Stop blaming Ben for the close losses!

If you support Ben Johnson on this forum (as I have also) expect to get hammered. There are those (some of them who rarely actually go to games) who choose to forget that he started with nothing, that we have had other coaches who struggled (I had my tix through the Monson and Pitino years), and...

Heartbreaking loss. I was there, so watched the DVR replay last night before watching N’W’s amazing overtime win vs Illini. We played good enough to win. Obviously, horrible shooting in the first half, but great D and tremendous shooting in the 2nd. Yes, some silly mistakes. Badgers had some...

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

Oh my! Forget that I brought up Hawkins (only did so as a representation of ball movement which is coaching). As has been discussed ad naseum on this forum it is a totally unfair comparison to compare the recruiting of a new coach in a historically mediocre program to that of a coach in a...

All Things Isaac Asuma Recruitment Thread (Class of 2024, Minnesota's Top In-State Target)

Both with Cooper and Battle, put their play in the context of their teammates. Cooper was playing with 4 freshman getting a lot of minutes. Battle is now not the primary opttion, getting more ooen, unpressured looks. In games where he is hurried, he is missing more. To pin their success on...
