New Mexico columnist already warning Lobos fans to enjoy Pitino now before he leaves for a P5 job

It would be nice and all but i'd rather we find our Alvarez or Ferentz or Dantonio or Fitz that can lead us to over a decade of sustained success. I just wouldn't expect the next coach to be able to build off of what PJ built if he only stays for one more year.

New Mexico columnist already warning Lobos fans to enjoy Pitino now before he leaves for a P5 job

Not necessarily. Certainly possible he could get hired away after having some pretty good but not great years. If he were to have another 10 win season and get hired away, I don’t think that does much for the program and I will expect his replacement to basically have to start from scratch...

Doogie: Ed Conroy would like to remain on the Gophers staff to support the new head coach

Keeping Robbins for possibly two more years, maybe the best returning big in the conference depending on who leaves, is alone a good enough reason to keep Conroy regardless of what else he brings as an assistant IMO. If a different assistant was able to outweigh having the best big in the...

Big Ten Spring Power Rankings (8. Minnesota)

Special teams will certainly be improved with Trickett and Mobley both clearly being better than any kicker we had the last two years, Sparks being a better punter then what we’ve had the last two years and Kesich not missing any time due to covid for place kicking duties. I don’t know about...

Is our cupboard really that bare?

In order to be a top team you need a star but in order to be a solid team, a tourney team, you can get by with having 3-5 really quality pieces that play well together and avoid bench. Tubby’s teams never had a star, no one ever averaged 15+ but they often had several solid pieces and were...

Is our cupboard really that bare?

Based on Johnson’s comments it sounds like he is leaning toward coming back. I’d definitely put the chances above 50%

Is our cupboard really that bare?

I’d say Robbins is more then just a solid player, he is good and possibly the top returning Big in the conference depending on who leaves. You also have Johnson likely coming back who is solid. And Gach has shown he is capable of being a quality starter and Tre is a quality bench piece. We...

    Big Dan is Back

Yeah, the top 6 OL from 2019 but two years older, the same QB but two years older, 3 of the top 4 TE’s but two years older and a RB who was better last year than Smith or Brooks were in 2019, and a starting receiver but two years older. Honestly on paper, there is no reason this offense can’t...

Is our cupboard really that bare?

It was a second to last place team with two of our top 3 players missing either the last 6 or last 8 games together at the same time. People on this thread are acting like that didn’t happen for some reason. We probably would have won 3-5 more games with if those guys played just looking at...

With all-white leadership, Gophers athletic department under fresh scrutiny to improve diversity; Coyle has hired 11 white head coaches

What a lovey parting gift by Meg. Glad she is moving on. At least in the comment section, the majority seem to be pushing back. I also find the title of the article funny, they aren’t under scrutiny by anyone except you.

Is our cupboard really that bare?

Up until the last few weeks, I always expected for next years team to make the tourney assuming everyone comes back except Carr and we get a quality grad transfer PG. Instill think that’s the case as long as Liam, Mash, Gabe, Gach, Johnson, Tre and Ihnen come back. I wouldn’t mind losing two...

Big Ten Spring Power Rankings (8. Minnesota)

Why do they have us only returning 7 starters on D? We get everyone back except St. Juste. We get 10 starters back on O as well and only lose Bateman. I guess 9 makes sense if you count Paulson as a starter but I don’t as he only started one game this year. And Seth wasn’t a starter. It...

Less yards per catch but his total yardage was up, which is all that really matters.

Yes but the throws are higher percentage when lined up in the slot opposed to outside.

And a big reason he got all the targets was because it was easier to get him the ball in the slot as opposed to outside.

He was good for us in the slot and it made it easier for us to get the ball to him. He actually increased his YPG output in 2020 from 2019.
