2022 College Town Tiers (Tier 5: Minnesota)

I would say that any town/city that is a state capital cannot also be a "tier 1" college town

Loudest College Football Stadium Rankings Entering The 2022 Season (47. Huntington Bank Stadium)

Of the stadiums listed, I've been to MI (against OSU), OSU (against MI), WI, and IA Michigan is (by far) the "least loud" of the four - part of it has to do with wide stadium bowl design (there is no "second deck") and part of it is because Michigan fans are known for sitting on their hands...

Pitts Pat Narduzzi Thinks if Pitt was in The B1G Pitt Would Win the B1G championship Every Year.

And with only 18 bowl games in 1989, it actually meant something to be invited to play (now there are around 45 - many of which are just "participation ribbons" - no offense gopher fans.....)

Pitts Pat Narduzzi Thinks if Pitt was in The B1G Pitt Would Win the B1G championship Every Year.

The Penn State football program more or less assumed it would be winning the B1G at least every other year (not once a decade) when joined the B1G in 1990 - Nebraska fans also assumed the same before joining in 2010

    Opener against NM state

I agree - the great thing about Aggie Vision is that it generated a memorable story that (9 years later) still creates a smile when thinking about it. It's something that rarely occurs for a non-P5 opponent blow out.

Video analysis - soon to welcome WA to B1G

If (when) we go to 20 teams, my vote for the conference name would be 2-B1G

Top 25 Best/Worst College Football Fight Songs (Worst: #22. Minnesota Rouser)

Telling myself to take a deep breath....... Telling myself to permanently ignore the Big Game Boomer crapola....... But.... The notion that "Rocky Top Tennessee" is the #1 rated song is beyond comprehension First off - it is not their "official fight song" - the official UT song is "Down the...

Start Times Announced for Four Home Games

While the 2:30p Colorado game and the evening game at PSU are great, was disappointed that the Purdue game was slated for 11a. Other than Mich @ Iowa, most of the other B1G matches that day are not likely to be close contests (Rutgers@OSU, NW@PSU, Ill@WI, etc.) - thought we could get a 2:30p...

Gopher legend Bruce Smith's son: "none of us are surprised by the disrespect we’ve gotten from the U…. Sad, Really, but it is what it is"

FWIW - # of B1G Heisman winners by school: Ohio State - 7 (Archie Griffin gets counted for two) Michigan - 3 Wisconsin - 2 Minnesota - 1 Iowa - 1 Chicago - 1 Only Iowa's Kinnick has a statue outside the stadium - Berwanger (Chicago 1935) has a statue at his hometown stadium in Dubuque, IA...

Gopher legend Bruce Smith's son: "none of us are surprised by the disrespect we’ve gotten from the U…. Sad, Really, but it is what it is"

Comparing Smith to Kinnick isn't quite fair. While Smith served his country honorably during WWII, Kinnick was killed in a training mission off the coast of Venezuela in 1943. Kinnick even has a Japanese high school named for him (for children of US military personnel). A quick look around...

Top 50 Loudest College Football Stadiums Of All Time (#49. Minnesota)

What a bunch of crap. Is this "venue-based" (via acoustics) or fan-inspired vocal loudness? Both? "All-time" can go back a lot of years, especially if looking at one particular instance. Nebraska-OK 1971? OSU-MI 1968? MN-Iowa 1960? Of course the Gophers have had 3 different venues in the...

    Iowa State leaving AAU

The primary Indiana School of Medicine campus is located in Indianapolis - kind of a "collaborative" effort between the University of Indiana and Purdue University (who is definitely an AAU member). It is more than a medical school, it offers various undergrad and graduate degrees. This is the...

The All-time University of Minnesota NFL Team

Karl Mecklenburg was also an NFL Hall of Fame semi-finalist for 8 consecutive years. Was involved in that concussion lawsuit against the NFL - sad to say that Karl has had cognitive issues over the years, not sure how he is doing now. Have some friends who are Broncos fans, Mecklenberg ranks...

The All-time University of Minnesota NFL Team

Bruce Smith played for the Packers and (briefly) the Rams from 1945-48. Was not a featured back per se - played in a total of 31 games, 560 total yards (108 attempts). Due to his WWII military service, the start of his professional career was postponed 3 years.

CBS: Ranking the top 10 college football coaches under age 45 entering the 2022 season (#6. PJ Fleck)

Any list that has an 8-13 Florida State coach listed as a "top ten coach under 45" is suspect in my book.

Lou Hudson elected to Basketball HOF!

A favorite of mine growing up - I was lucky enough to be at the game when either Lou was inducted into the Minnesota Hall of Fame in 1991 or when his jersey was retired in 1994 (can't remember which one). Ray Christensen provided the introduction (and, as expected, did a wonderful job). Lou is...
