Reusse: This is not the golden era of Golden Gophers football, despite P.J. Fleck's claim

Let's try this just one time with Reusse: Nobody reply to this thread or click on the link. Let's just try it.

A few Syracuse football tidbits for those new to the team

I appreciate your contributions here, Freak. One of my best memories on this board is when an Alabama fan (CrimsonBama) hung around for a while before the 2003 Music City Bowl and educated us about the Tide and took the time to learn about us.

    All Things Transfer Portal News

2022 was the first time they were #1, but they've been recruiting really well for a couple years, according to 247; you'd think it would show on the field sooner or later: 2022: 1 2021: 8 2020: 6 2019: 4

Ranking the 41 college football bowl games from best to worst (28. Pinstripe Bowl: Syracuse (7-5) vs. Minnesota (8-4))

Too many for ... what? I certainly understand those who don't want to watch that many, particularly some of the less appealing games. So don't watch. Clearly, others are watching. ESPN owns a bunch of the bowls because they know people want to watch. So when you (and there are many others) say...

    Bowl Game Projections?

Is Minnesota the only school with snowbirds who buy bowl game tickets? I would find that a little hard to believe.

    Mackey

Front-runners? Maybe it's that. But I think Mackey has changed over the past year or two. I listen to them and I've always liked Mackey. I think he's talented and, unlike Reusse and Barriero, who seem to hate Minnesota teams, athletes and fans, Mackey has always struck me as a fan who wants the...

The curse was broken. He no longer holds power over us.

New arena - just look at the Longhorns’ new Moody center

This is a terrible idea and I can't even believe I'm responding. But it does bring up an interesting point: St. Thomas will build their own arena soon, which will immediately make their home 100 times nicer than ours (although smaller).

To those calling to fire PJ, who would you hire in his place?

I'd guess the latter. If we're using the record at the time of the game, off the top of my head MSU was 2-1 when we played, West Virginia was 6-6 last year (I think he said .500 or better right?). Barriero goes with whatever makes his argument.

To those calling to fire PJ, who would you hire in his place?

Well, I count four wins since then: Auburn (2019) and three last year (Wisconsin, Purdue and Maryland). We can argue, as usual, about how informative the 2020 season is (0-2 against winning teams that year). In addition to counting wrong, he's mostly pointing out that we haven't beaten a team...

This was our big chance for a big season - and it's gone.

I disagree that this was our best chance to win the division. We were better last year and blew it. We were much better in 2019 and blew it. This year? We're an okay but flawed team in a division with other okay but flawed teams. We played a few close games and found ways to lose. That's what...

Bars around Campus before Iowa game

Burnsville guy here, and if you're coming up from Iowa I can say this would work great if you don't need to be on campus. To the guy who likes the Lucky's 13 in Mendota Heights better than Burnsville: Yes. The one in Bloomington is better, too, but the Burnsville location isn't bad. The guy...

    Weather vs Iowa

I HATE the bitter cold and dread these games. But we go through this (maybe not quite this bad) about once a year, and I always think of it as a bonding experience with our group: We're all in this together. As a result, some of the coldest games are among my best memories as a season ticket holder.

How would Gopher Football look in 2022 if the team had never moved out of Memorial Stadium?

The opening of the Dome pretty much coincided with Lou Holtz's tenure. If recruiting improved, it was because of Holtz.

Ticket sales "sunny" side, lower deck

Give me 52k. We'll survive. More fun with more people, even if they're the enemy.

Ticket sales "sunny" side, lower deck

Ha -- we're in 103, directly kitty-corner from you. We'd like to move downfield a little, too, but we're not willing to pay more.

Ticket sales "sunny" side, lower deck

I'm saying that selling more season tickets help full the stadium. I know, I know -- that's not rocket science. But with almost every team in every sport there are games that are difficult to sell. For Minnesota football, November games are hard. Even some September games against nobodies are...

Ticket sales "sunny" side, lower deck

I keep hammering this, but this (and, even moreso, last week's game) is why season tickets are so important. The price sounds crazy to me, but as a season ticket holder, it's already baked into my cost. November games are extremely difficult to sell, regardless of the opponent. Selling even...
