Immediate Commitment from Michigan LB Pretzlaff

Jacob Knuth commits to Kansas State

I'm sure that if it's not happening yet, it will soon.

Jacob Knuth commits to Kansas State

247 says "insider reports from the Gophers spring campaign noted early enrollee Drew Viotto challenging Knuth and, according to some, having a sharper look in the pocket." https://247sports.com/college/kansas-state/article/kansas-state-football-recruiting-transfer-portal-2023-jacob-knut-210685649/

2023 College Football Bowl Projections: Brett McMurphy’s Early Predictions & Projected Spreads (Quick Lane Bowl: Minnesota vs Central Michigan)

I don't get bothered by these low projects for the Gophers anymore. We see them every year and we have an opportunity to prove them wrong. I feel like we have proved many of the national media guys wrong over the past few years -- but not by enough for them to notice.

    Doc Rivers

Well, there's Eric Musselman. I've heard some around here wishing we went after him a few years ago. I believe the majority of coaches (football and basketball) are better suited for either the NBA or college, but not both. There are rare exceptions. But a failed NBA coach could be great in...

Oregon, Washington ‘Vetted and Cleared’ to Join Big Ten: Brett McMurphy

Here's the average number of viewers per week for the 2021 12-week season for each program. There might be something more recent, but I'm too lazy to look. Minnesota is #24. Washington is #38, which is pretty much equal to or better than other programs being discussed, such as North Carolina...

MN Twins Fans Security - Gopher Stadium

That's one of my pet peeves: They do use the big black gates at the west end -- sometimes. Not every game, and not for the entire entry period when they do. Why the inconsistency?

Dinkytown Athletes Named Official NIL Collective of Gopher Athletics

Listened to this today. One thing that jumped out at me was Gag's belief that pay-for-play is clearly against the rules, and those who are doing it will eventually be penalized. I doubt they will, but that's obviously one of our collective's guiding principles.

Reusse: Sept. 28, 1969 - This was the day the Vikings zipped past the Gophers and put them in the rearview mirror which those Gophers now share.

Reusse has written versions of that article a dozen times, this one with Kapp as the hook. My earliest memories as a Viking fan go back to 1971, so I just missed Kapp and am worse for it.

    U names Ettinger interim president

The Hormel Chili Bowl is a great name for a stadium in Minnesota, trailing only the Wheaties Bowl and DQ Blizzard ... something.

Did the Gophers improve their backcourt this offseason?

Is the backcourt improved? Yes. Is it enough to move the needle next year? Not sure.

Two Transfer CBs Visiting This Weekend

I always wonder about that, too, but the fact is the reason hardly matters anymore. I'm not sure many of the transfers even have reasons. And, if they have a reason that may raise eyebrows, I'm sure the coaches will figure it out.

247Sports predicts every Big Ten football teams record in 2023 (MN: 8-4 overall, 6-3 in conference; "Gophers are primed to challenge for the Big Ten")

I don't disagree, but eventually we're going to have to beat a team like Michigan during a season when it matters, like beating Penn State in 2019. If we're going to progress, we have to get to the point where playing OSU and Michigan doesn't automatically make our ceiling eight wins.

P.J. Fleck will get $75,000 bonus, as team's newly published single-year NCAA APR score is at least 980 (it is 994).

Alabama surely has relatives of Jan Ganglehoff on the payroll, but no enterprising young journalist in Tuscaloosa is willing to crack open the case.

247Sports predicts every Big Ten football teams record in 2023 (MN: 8-4 overall, 6-3 in conference; "Gophers are primed to challenge for the Big Ten")

This is from 2020 on the Big Ten website; it's as hard as I'm willing to work. The championship game participant and division champion from each division will be determined by the following: With all conference games completed, the best winning percentage in all conference games. In the event...

247Sports predicts every Big Ten football teams record in 2023 (MN: 8-4 overall, 6-3 in conference; "Gophers are primed to challenge for the Big Ten")

You're mistaken. Overall Big Ten record is what matters, and they have Wisconsin 7-2 and Minnesota 6-3. Division record comes into play if there's a tie.

    2024 College Football Playoff Schedule

Where are you getting $3-5 million in extra ticket revenue? If you sell 15,000 extra tickets at $100 each, that's $1.5 million. Plus, any food and beverage sales would go to the Vikings, rather than the Gophers. An unanswered (and so far unasked?) question is who gets the ticket revenue -- the...

Gophers Recruiting CB Avante Dickerson Again Now That He's In Portal

    Going back to 2014: Ohio State – 14 Penn State – 11 Minnesota – 9 Michigan – 9 (4 in 2017) Iowa - 8 Illinois – 6 (3 this year) Michigan State – 6 Maryland – 6 Wisconsin – 5 Purdue – 4 Nebraska – 3 Rutgers – 3 Northwestern – 1 Indiana – 1

Gophers Recruiting CB Avante Dickerson Again Now That He's In Portal

I think we deserve a little more credit than that. Nine Gopher DBs drafted in a 10-year span, and next year is likely to make it 10 drafted in 11 years (or maybe 11 drafted if Walley leaves early).
