NO SPRING GAME! Gophers start spring practice March 21; open practice for the public is April 11

Brosmer is sitting out as a precaution for ... what? He'd have the red jersey on so he doesn't get hit. Why would the new presumptive starting QB sit out?

NO SPRING GAME! Gophers start spring practice March 21; open practice for the public is April 11

I've seen some people on Twitter outraged by this, and others who are mocking those people. Our group likes to go, as long as it's above 40 degrees and not raining. No game? We'll survive. But it sure seems like a missed marketing opportunity. I know we don't fill the stadium for this, but it's...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT IOWA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Yes. It's happening ... you're in the middle of it.

    Fleck is staying!!!

He'd be crazy not to. And if UCLA called Matt Rhule, he would've answered, too, then announced he was staying at Nebraska. I mean, I know they didn't show interest in Rhule. But coaches who don't at least talk about other opportunities to get a raise, if nothing else, are doing it wrong

If Fleck leaves, who should realistically be on Coyle’s immediate call list?

If Fleck leaves, half the team enters the portal at a time when other players aren't out there for us to pick up. In that case, we could go winless in the Big Ten next year. Rossi might be the best chance to keep many of those players and have a better team next year. But would we better in...

Coaching Changes says source they trust: Muss already sending 3rd party inquiries to Minnesota and ASU as well as several less realistic spots

I don't get the sense that many people think of Muss as "one of us." However, many of us are hoping there's enough of a loose connection that he's the rare established coach who might actually consider coming here at a price we could (or would) pay. I doubt it, but we can hope.

CBS: Big Ten tiers in 2024

The Gophers had chances to improve their image in the Big Ten over the past few years and haven't done it. They are where they belong for now.

    Ihmir Smith-Marsette Commits

I would guess it's pretty standard for a coach to tell a player who's not ready to commit that the scholarship might not be there if they wait too long. A coach better be looking for Plan B in that case. Conversely, a player who doesn't want to announce it on social media should be a red flag to...

    Enjoying Gopher Basketball

Georgetown grads probably don't regret going there, but they may talk about it more often when the basketball team is good. I worked in St. Paul for about a dozen years and constantly met people who offered that they went to St. Thomas. There were Macalester and Hamline grads, but they never...

    Quarterbacks in the Transfer Portal

I read it as if he was talking about next year, when six wins are not a sure thing.

    New Salaries for Coaches

Fun speculation, but Coyle wouldn't be the one to talk to about that.

    Quarterbacks in the Transfer Portal

I don't know why a player like this wouldn't be interested in the Gophers (aside from questions about our commitment to the forward pass). I'm not sure if this specific player would be a RS freshman or a sophomore in 2024, but how many first- or second-year guys would expect to start for their...

6 years later, are we still pleased with the uniform redesign?

I like the bigger M. They used helmets in practice with an even larger, skewed M that I love but I don't remember seeing in a game. Give me the Fleck helmets (use the gold-not-chrime more) with Kill or Mason unis.

    Non Revenue Generating Sports

I keep hearing people talk about this. You sound very informed; maybe you can answer a question I've never heard answered: How many trans individuals are receiving a scholarship to play a women's sport? (Penn doesn't give athletic scholarships.) To hear some voice their concerns, you'd think...

    Trill Carter in the portal

He played quite a bit in the CFP semi-final. He couldn't have gotten that here.

    High School spring practice

My daughter played soccer and basketball, and both were year round, of course. Even with most girls choosing one or the other, I think I counted eight torn ACLs among the girls she played with during those four years.

Shooter: Minnesota, conceptually, has considered either renovating Williams Arena or building a new arena in the parking lots north of arena

But probably not many better places where they 1) wouldn't have to pay rent, 2) could benefit from concession sales, 3) charge for parking (I know the athletic department doesn't receive that) and bring people to the U campus.

Shooter: Minnesota, conceptually, has considered either renovating Williams Arena or building a new arena in the parking lots north of arena

With the renovation, Mariucci is now 200 x 100 and the Kohl Center is 200 x 97 (they're now renovating that to shorten it). Somehow, the Badgers make it work. Since the Kohl Center is used for both hockey and basketball permanently, it's entirely possible the stands and other equipment needed...

    My reluctant Gopherhole semi retirement

Are you saying that when you view GH on Firefox Focus you can't see the embedded tweets? GH is terrible on my phone, but social media is blocked on my work computer. Half the time I view GH on my phone it's to see threads with a lot of embedded tweets (recruiting threads, etc.) so I can see who...
