    Buffs - Coach Prime

I wanted Deon on fail, but ... hasn't elevated Colorado? They were one of the worst teams in the country three years ago. Now they're selling out home games, they got ranked in two years, they have the college football world talking about them. If the Gophers were in the same spot as the Buffs...

All Things 2024-25 College Football Coach Fired/Hired/Retired Thread

I guess that's how the Jets get to be -- and remain -- the Jets.

    60 is considered average.

PJ was hired 8 years ago today. What grade would you give the Fleck era?

Solid B for me. Aside from wins, my biggest surprises/disappointments have been on recruiting and attendance. Attendance is usually bumped by winning, of course. Between the opening of the new stadium and Kill digging out from the Brewster years, attendance was strong 10 years ago. Then they...

Hay is not in the barn….

Correct. I know Burns said "rev share," but I don't believe that's what he meant. Maybe I'm wrong. Now that Koi and Darius have re-upped with Dinkytown Athletes, I'm not worried at all.

Georgia Tech QB Zach Pyron Transfers to Minnesota

Yeah, I wasn't responding to you, necessarily, but I agree with you.

Georgia Tech QB Zach Pyron Transfers to Minnesota

Pyron is not an established, accomplished starter from another P4 program. Newsflash: We're not in the running for those guys. We got very lucky with Max moving up from a lower level and may not have been so fortunate again. If we did bring in an established starter and let Linsdey remain the...

Hay is not in the barn….

I did not take it that way at all, but maybe I'm wrong. (Nobody knows what schools are paying yet, do they?) For what it's worth, last year Gopher players announced they were coming back by posting that they're with Dinkytown Athletes. Darius and Koi promoted Roy, but didn't mention Dinkytown...

Hay is not in the barn….

Correct -- with Dinkytown Athletes. So hay is not in the barn.

Hay is not in the barn….

Here's the quote from Burns: "It is good news that Koi and Darius have at least said publicly on social media that they plan on coming back. I would just say the hay is not in the barn yet as far as I've been told."

Does Fleck get asked to interview for other coaching openings ?

We could probably add Cal Stoll, too. He did win only five games his final year, but he basically lived at 7-4 and 6-5. Got us to a bowl game in 1977, the year before he was fired, when there were only 13 bowl games. Finished .500 in the Big Ten his final three years.

    Has Minnesota Surpassed Wisconsin?

So Minnesota is much closer to surpassing Oregon, USC and Miami than Wisconsin.

Should Minnesota vs Wisconsin stay on Black Friday

I love that this game had all college football eyes on it today. If I'm sitting st home, I love it. But it's tough for travel. We left mid-afternoon on Thursday to get here. Not optimal for a holiday. A 2:30 kickoff would be okay, so we could leave early Friday. Also, attendance at Camp...

What is an acceptable expectation for a Gopher Men’s Basketball Head Coach?

Clem and Dutcher levels should not be unreachable. Aside from the Final Four year, Clem's best Big Ten record was 11-7. He was 10-8 four times, 9-9 once and 8-10 once (aside from rebuilding years). He was basically .500 in the conference and lived on the bubble, but struck gold twice in the...

Max Brosmer and Quinn Carroll commit to playing in bowl game

No me -- I hope all our guys play. Let's win. I think talk about our winning streak in bowl games is overblown, because it's mostly due to us playing in Phoenix, New York and Detroit rather than Tampa or Orlando. But I'd still rather win than lose. Also, it's a good look that most of our guys...

    Madison rollcall

Wife and I are kicking family out after Thanksgiving lunch and leaving for Madison 30 minutes later. We have friends in Madison (the wives were friends in college at the U, but one is still a Badger fan), and the four of us have been going to this game since 1988. An early Black Friday game...

    Serious conversation

The coaching staff must consider this season a disappointment. Experienced lines with talent, good corners, young safeties that turned out pretty good, good RBs, better WRs than we've had recently and a very good QB by our standards. With a cyclical program, this should've been considered a...

    Badgers fire their OC

I believe Charlie Strong was the official runner-up (I think the U required something like that at the time for some reason; I could be wrong). Lake Kiffin and Bo Pellini also reportedly were interested or interviewed. The most interesting to me was Gary Patterson, who was at TCU. The...

    Nebraska is back...

Also, using these dates, Nebraska hired a QB from one of their last championship teams to be their head coach in 1981 (fired in 1985). We actually hired ours (Joe Salem) in 1979 (fired in 1983).
