More offseason competition than ever bolsters Gophers' depth

Your thoughts align with comments I have heard from Ryan Burns in that Rossi's scheme had basically taken on complexity over the years and takes experienced guys to run it effectively. So when you throw young players in there they end up thinking too much and hesitating. As a result, guys like...

Gophers explore renovations to Williams Arena or new basketball venue

I love Williams "The Barn" as well, since there is a lot of nostalgia with that building. However, there is no way they are going to keep it and build another arena somewhere else. The unfortunate thing is if you talk to a facilities person they are going to tell you all the hidden costs...

Eric Decker, Joel Maturi elected to M Club HOF

If we could only put someone like Decker opposite Jackson this season, things would be a lot more interesting.

More offseason competition than ever bolsters Gophers' depth

There may be a few names flipped around here and there, but it does give you a feel for the entire team by position.

    Fleck, Harbaugh, Hetherman presser videos

I hope Drake is taking full advantage of someone like Max and watches how he goes about his business preparing and pays attention to the conversations Max is having with Harbaugh in terms of thinking your way through a game tactically. Side note, possibly add " - UNC Preview" to the end of...

More offseason competition than ever bolsters Gophers' depth

Speaking of depth, I just recently became aware of this site and it will be interesting to see how good their intel is on the depth chart. https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/minnesota/91188

On3: Preaseason True Freshman All-American = Koi Perich

If you haven't checked it out yet, take a look at the "Fleck, Harbaugh, Hetherman presser videos" thread. It has the Full presser video from today for the UNC Preview. It's almost exactly an hour long and you probably get more info there than you have all off-season.

On3: Preaseason True Freshman All-American = Koi Perich

Yep, filling time until they have real game content at this point.

    Fleck, Harbaugh, Hetherman presser videos

My take after watching the presser is that I'm now really interested in seeing Majors after both PJs and Harbaugh's comments. I think one takeaway is that coaches love solid veteran players. So, once you get a guy on the practice field and realize you don't have to fix a bunch of stuff (little...

On3: Preaseason True Freshman All-American = Koi Perich

He probably received a little leg up by being the MVP of the 2024 All-American Bowl for high school players. Not a bad day by the way, he made a diving interception and blocked a punt, which contributed significantly to his team’s victory. Also, I see several other players from the 2024...

You won't believe what I think...

I think what this shows is that the 60/40 ratio we have been discussing isn't the issue it's the QB efficiency that is critical within that 40% pass. Taking a look at those two seasons for each QB you can see that clearly. It's all about the efficiency that is consistently talked about. During...

    2024-2025 Opponents

It's hard to believe how close we are getting to the 2024/25 season already. I haven't seen an announcement, but I assume they will start practice the 1st or 2nd week of October.

    Did Rossi resign?

Another angle. Let's say PJ was having conversations with UCLA and Rossi is aware of it. So, MSU was knocking on a few doors and he decides to take the call. After an interview and some conversations he's like you're willing to pay $$$ and your NIL budget is that. Although PJs is now staying, I...

Let's have a Gopherhole prediction thread

Ditto. I think that with 7th yr Senior Taulia gone at MD there is a chance at that 9th win. I will stick with 8-4 and then go with the standard name your bowl win to give PJ another 9 win season.

Gophers explore renovations to Williams Arena or new basketball venue

The UofM never seems to have much luck with timing. When they signed the contract back in October with Populous they had no idea what was coming out of the House vs NCAA litigation. At that time they were looking at the new football tv contract with all that additional revenue. Here we are 10...

Darius Taylor and Daniel Jackson dealing with injuries.

We can deal with that as long as we avoid the type of injury bug going on with the Vikes. They had to cart Addison off yesterday. Side note, I saw they mentioned Cashman needed to have finger surgery.

    SI: Predicting every B1G wins/losses 2024

Agreed, I listened to one of their pods and they would be a good listen going into the USC & UCLA games. I think they've finally adjusted to the idea there in the B1G. It will be interesting to get their takes as they start to see the B1G week to week and how our 4 new additions are doing.

College football’s breakout QBs: Which former five-stars and hidden gems will shine in 2024?

I think with a team like Gophers you're going to get what we have largely been seeing where people are saying that Minn could be a surprise if Brosmer is good, but no one is going to predict that. However, with PJ's history of being a conservative running coach and only one well-known receiver...

Mike Farrell: People don’t like Fleck but I do and at 80-56 overall he’s been proven a winner. 50-34 at Minnesota is as good as they can expect.

Your doing your job as a coach if the opposing fan bases truly hate you. On this side of the fence that is completely the case with Bielema as I think all Gopher fans detest that guy.

Darius Taylor and Daniel Jackson dealing with injuries.

I guess I will defer to the masses as I don't remember Jerry Kill's staff ever giving detailed explanations of injuries for any of their players. I remember when Leidner was hurt and needed foot surgery and we pretty much found out about that a week after the season ended.
