To put ClassOf98Gophers' comment my way: Why keep bringing in freshmen pitchers who can't compete/excel at the D1 level? To repeat: It's now 8 years since Fiser was an incoming freshman. "...we demoralize them." Following the OSU series, which seemed uplifting, the Gophers played a...

That Indiana game leaves me really po'ed. I think MN's a more talented team and the game was a win waiting to happen. But there seemed to be absolutely no drive or desire to make it happen, not from the coaches or players.

Yes, drive in those 2 runs from 3rd and Oakland's HR ties the game. Where are the hitting coaches in those critical situations? A game the Gophers coaches and players wasted. It was there for the taking, when a win was needed. A hard loss to take.

I seem to recall that during the 2017 season Allister said in an interview that she'd learned a lot about scheduling. That backfired on her.

Last weekend was great. Yet there's still plenty to worry about with the Gophers' pitching. They badly need some really good innings from Hambrick. A return of Schwartz would also be good, but probably unrealistic. As I recall the Indiana field, their outfield fences are close in. Maybe that...

You're right. Don't take me as someone who knows anything. I pretend to no medical expertise. I put this out for conversation, like other posters on this site, mainly to infuse some hope in those who wish for more depth in the pitching corps.

I saw Schwartz walking in a relaxed way on the concourse in a what appeared a loosely tied boot. My podiatrist says, give most ankle injuries 2 months.

Her first time at bat in the big inning, she struck out swinging at a well-placed fast ball on the outside corner. The second time she got a change-up left too high in the power zone and didn't hesitate.

Very interesting comments! The Gophers' weak underbelly has been poor hitting production from 5-8 in the batting order. But without those batters' clutch hitting the Saturday comebacks wouldn't have been possible. That production has to continue. BTW I sensed a strange but undefinable...

Like some other folks, I attended all 3 games vs OSU at Jane Sage Cowles. It was a treat to watch Gophers players who clearly enjoy their squad and play with spirit and energy. An unsung star is Debord, and it's amazing to see how quick Krapf's bat is. No to mention other players more widely...

A very strong wind was blowing toward the outfield fence. Some of the MN hitters were strong enough to launch pitches up into the air. On the other hand, I read Enter has a drop ball, which meant she had pretty good success getting IL hitters pounding the ball on the ground both games she...

A healthy Schwartz and they could possibly have swept Maryland.

It's hard to lose interest in a team with hitters like Oakland, DeBord, Chavez, & Krapf. But very easy to wonder about coaches who bring in---what? 7?---freshman recruits who aren't deemed worthy of much more than pinch-running, or assemble a pitching staff that can't hold leads. Is it possible...

I remember in 2017 the Gophers mauled the Illini in the Friday afternoon game by a lopsided score, only to lose the Saturday game, their only Big Ten loss of that season; 19-1 was their Big Ten record that year.

As a freshman, she likely would have prospered pitching behind a healthy Pease, or a Fiser or Groenewegen.

Someone told me she was the most sought-after and most highly scholarship-loaded pitcher MN ever brought in. Whether true or not I don't know.

I remember when Donna Shelela (spelling?) came to the U of Wisconsin as president, their Athletic Dept. was rock bottom. She fixed that in a hurry. Keeping those pitching aces coming in one after another is the key to a great program. Can't win without them.
