All Things 2024/25 College Football Transfer Portal Thread

Lol. You do realize that D3 teams won over 40% of their games against D2 teams going to back to 2021, right? Almost half. D2 is glorified D3 because the scholarships are partial and most D2 are hyphenated state schools that give very little financial aid unlike most D3. The step for D2 to full...

Phillip Daniels already linked to Ohio State, tampering?

The dude has highly recruited high 4-stars in front of him and coming up behind him. Is he OK with sitting on the bench at OSU?

All Things 2024 College Football D2 and D3 Thread

@MaxyJR1 had a bunch of info on this in the portal thread. There's so much more public exposure now in D3/D2 then there used to be (streaming) that I bet this happens more often going forward.

That almost sounds like a JUCO situation in D2 and D3 where the young stars move up and some bench players in D1 move down. I don't know if the portal has already impacted D3, but we're seeing some new blood in the late rounds of the playoffs. The final fours were usually dominated by a very...

Great list. Wow. There's a guy or two on this forum that call D3 football glorified high school. Lol. The best teams always have multiple players that could play at higher levels.

    Indifferent to Indiana, but.....

This is the battle of the unprovens. I'd say overrated but that seems a bit harsh. Both had weak schedules.

Ivy League will Join Post Season (FCS)

Good question. Maybe the "no interest" factor is what's causing them to pursue the playoffs. The lower divisions of football are getting more and more airplay which is great marketing for the schools. I love the ESPN+ package with all lower division playoff games in one spot. I pulled up league...

Phillip Daniels already linked to Ohio State, tampering?

Center was an issue and needs to improve dramatically.

Phillip Daniels already linked to Ohio State, tampering?

In some respects, losing a decent offensive lineman hurts psychologically more than the other positions. O-linemen take more time to develop (more investment) and are a close team within a team. Like synchronized swimming, except on turf with 300+ lb guys trying to hurt each other......:unsure...

Ivy League will Join Post Season (FCS)

With their massive endowments (hedge funds with dorms), the Ivies typically give very substantial financial aid for the non-rich. I doubt that athletic scholarships would have much impact. We'll see, but I'm guessing the Ivy league is a big step up from the Pioneer League. I like this decision...

Probably looking for a good FCS team. I've heard there's a few of those in the region.

The Golden Years for college football coaching salaries has passed

This is true. I'm the sole reason in my family that we have a TV package subscription and it's only because of sports. Between free broadcast TV and a million other a la carte subscriptions like Netflix, Paramount, Prime, HBO, streaming on YouTube/Rumble, Pluto, FreeVee, etc., there's no need...

The Golden Years for college football coaching salaries has passed

This was destined to happen with NIL and now revenue sharing. The coach is no longer the team's King Cahuna. He's no longer solely responsible for creating the roster, roster management, booster donations, marketing in addition to all aspects of coaching. A lot of that responsibility now goes to...

New NCAA Roster Limits but more Scholarships

The NCAA will be moving to roster size limits, but removing scholarship limits for the Power 4 schools. Minnesota offers a lot of sports. Will they fund those scholarships? Potential scholarships for baseball, softball and wrestling will explode if the school chooses. I found this article...

    AP: ALL-AMERICAN Aireontae Ersery

He was a pretty highly touted 4-star out of IMG. Edit correction: I take that back. 247 sports had him as a composite 4-star but they had him as a 3-star. If I recall correctly, he had a very high upside physically but modest football-playing experience.

Well, no idea what the NIL situation is, but this frees up some $$$.

That sucks. You usually need to be pretty damn good to start at offensive tackle as a redshirt freshman.

    AP: ALL-AMERICAN Aireontae Ersery

Was Howden a walk on? For the kid to come in lightly recruited, get playing time as a freshman, develop into an All BG10 player, then ultimately stick to an NFL roster is quite the accomplishment for both player and program.

Fleck sends another supposed 3-star to the NFL in Ersery. Terell Smith Spann-Ford Otomewo Howden (might have been below a 3-star) Schmitz Mafe Kief Bateman, a 3-star then upgraded to 4-star very late. Add on the 3-stars he didn't recruit in Winfield, Johnson and Cashman. Were all these guys...
