Top 50 Returning Players per CBS

He was a Gopher for 4 days I was on record as really liking his game but I was unsure about how well he would do going up to the B10 because he was rail thin. Extremely versatile.

All Things Nolan Winter Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, Gophers Offered, Son of Trevor)

Thank you for the response, that is an interesting story to hear. You are clearly the definition of a diehard fan! That is funny you almost got the RB to go to MN. I hope the move helped with the health issues. I also wear my Gopher gear frequently around here (Oregon) and it is fun to strike...

All Things Nolan Winter Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, Gophers Offered, Son of Trevor)

I asked ecoperson if he had lived outside of Minnesota. I found it gradually softened my edges about how I felt about the idea of Iowa/Wisconsin. In HS I gave shit classmates who went to Madison, but I feel differently now. Honestly I'm curious if this is a common progression. AlsoI live in a...

All Things Nolan Winter Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, Gophers Offered, Son of Trevor)

Out of curiosity, have you ever lived outside of MN? I left in 2008 and I have not lived there since, and any animosity I previously felt for neighboring states is now excitement when I meet a fellow midwesterner. Of course I still hate the sports teams, but I have no issue with people from the...

    Eric Curry

Actually not a bad idea. He can functionally be a grad assistant but he could play in a pinch if needed. And he gets the year for free. One of the walk-ons might be pissed...but oh well, Curry deserves it.

All Things Joshua Ola-Joseph Recruitment Thread (Class of 2022; Osseo HS; Gophers Offered)

Yup I'm really curious to see him play this year. Sometimes when people say that about a guy like Rodney Williams it works out pretty well, and sometimes when they say it about a Jarvis Omersa it means they are not skilled enough to play in the B10. I like that he talked about growing a tougher...

    Taurus Samuels Commits to Gophers!!

We have a small sample size of games on tape, but we have 3 seasons each of statistics. That's almost as good as you can get. From an advanced stats perspective, in each of his 3 seasons Cooper has a higher PER (18, 13, 15) and eFG% (56, 50, 49) than Samuels PER (9, 10, 12) and eFG% (45, 45...

    Taurus Samuels Commits to Gophers!!

In his press conference/interview a week ago before Samuels committed, he said the roster was pretty much complete but he was thinking about adding a combo guard depth piece that could help Talon out a little bit and it was clear he was talking about Samuels or the Merrimack guy. Not saying...

All Things 2023 Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread

Well since we have 2 open scholarships this year apparently, maybe Ben Johnson starts a walk-on program and awards them year to year.

    Taurus Samuels Commits to Gophers!!

Good post. I have also been a bit surprised by the guards with mediocre/bad shooting. It seemed like Loewe/Willis/Stephens were better shooters than we are used to at the expense of some athleticism, now it seems we are going the other way. At least Ta'Lon Cooper has demonstrated some success...

    May Roster Construction current take

Good post and I am inclined to agree. I know people roll their eyes at "culture" but I think it's a real thing that is extended to making your recruiting desirable. I also really liked his approach to minimizing turnovers.

Technically Henley was added this spring, that's my guess at the wording.

Dartmouth transfer Taurus Samuels will visit Gophers May 5-6

I agree overall, it's all about flexibility. But I am guessing we finish somewhere closer to 7th-12th place. We finished 7th the year Oturu/Kalscheur were freshman and we had SR Murphy/JR Coffey and went on to beat Louisville.

    2022 Transfer Portal Discussion

Yup. All about anti-fragility of the roster. To be fair Tubby had senior Al Nolen and Devoe Joseph combo guard capable of PG and freshman Mav at PG...it was a comedy of errors with Devoe transferring and an Al Nolen injury weeks later and Mav being so raw that led to the situation. He definitely...

    2022 Transfer Portal Discussion

Yes, to me it is about resiliency. If you think about the season as a simulation you run 100 times, at least a few of those times Cooper misses major time (or Carrington, who we think is our other guard right now). We risk becoming a completely dysfunctional team in those scenarios (remember...
