Gophers in N Alabama transfer Daniel Ortiz top 6

Agree with all of this. I'm not particularly confident either...I think he needs to sell more guys on the vision of playing time, and then not feel bad when an inferior player is unhappy and transfers. I would much rather have that than the games where we only have 6 scholarship players suiting...

Gophers in N Alabama transfer Daniel Ortiz top 6

My main issue with this reasoning was that we did have a starting position to offer. We had one (1) guard with college experience under his belt at the time of Samuels committing. My only guess is that Ben promised Henley and Carrington significant playing time right off the bat, thought Ihnen...

KC Star: Kansas took two D-line transfers from Minnesota. They think Jayhawks are ‘hungrier’

I'm reviewing Austin Booker's career stats thus far, and it appears he compiled two (2) tackles in two years. Doesn't seem he had much of an appetite?

Caledonia native Eli King in portal from Iowa State

I'm curious if Ben will pursue him, seeing as how we have Asuma committed for the following year. He was a good football prospect too, wonder if he is thinking about that?

    Cameron Christie COMMITS!

Yup, it only worked out when the PF he couldn't guard couldn't keep up with him so he got more open shots. So he was a liability on defense but made up for it on offense. This year he couldn't guard quicker 3's, but also couldn't get his shot off as easily against them. I am not optimistic...

    If the current guys stay....

I have no inside knowledge but there is no way Battle/Cooper go from being 36-37 mpg guys to 25 mpg. Unless this was a tourney team that had a real shot at making a run. I still think Payne/Garcia/Portal Wing/Carrington/Portal PG plus JOJ/Christie/Fox/Ihnen contributing has a shot to be a...

    If the current guys stay....

I think our best chance at improvement will come from the 2nd year leap that Payne, JOJ, and Carrington can make. And actually having a player who can dribble the ball up the floor and guard an opposing PG. I liked Henley but he was a project and not a sure thing. I also liked Chip Armelin and...

Treyton Thompson has officially entered the transfer portal

I really hope so. I was really annoyed when he basically shut down recruiting early the last couple years. Taurus Samuels, Danny Ogele, Charlie Daniels, and handing Ramberg a scholarship were inexcusable. Unfortunately I think the answer is being a little bit "slimier". He's going to have to...

Dennis Evans - Is it time to recommit?

Agreed, I'm sure money is the biggest factor. I also wonder if Pharrell Payne's emergence had anything to do with it. I can't see those two on the floor at the same time with their skillsets. And if Payne is only a year ahead of Evans, while Payne is getting 30 minutes a game...hard to get on...

What grade would you give the Gophers 2022-23 basketball season?

I gave it a D because as far as I know there were no off the court scandals, and I liked what I saw from Payne and was pleasantly surprised by Ola-Joseph. If there were no promising freshmen or if there was off the court trouble, definitely an F.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS NEBRASKA BTT WIN OR SEASON'S OVER IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I kept thinking about how Payne would have been in 7th or 8th grade when Walker was a senior in HS. Crazy how COVID and transfers has led to these age gaps. And Payne held his own physically.

Recruiting the next few years in Minnesota

    I mean...we have what, 2 guards total?

New Commit: Corey Gaynor, guard out of Florida!!!

Weird to think that when he was graduating highschool in 2017, some of his future 2023 teammates were in 6th grade.

Fleck and Fickell go back on forth about Martin Owusu negative recruitment

That's the most milquetoast half denial he could make. Just own it at that point man.

Souhan: The wait for Evans and Christie could feel long as a Minnesota winter, but Johnson should be viewed similarly. He was hired to recruit.

Worried me too. The conclusion I drew from it was that he had promised Carrington and/or Henley big minutes and couldn't break that promise. Doesn't seem to be working out vey well so far.

    Too much Mo?

My theory is he partially likes it as a recruiting tool. He can hold up a Mo or a Rodney Smith as a bellcow back who gets showcased in the B10 against the best teams. He tells recruits that if you come to MN and beat out the competition, I will feed you the ball and you will have great exposure...

Former Gopher Troy Stoudermire says reason why Gophers have no luck is because he hasn’t received a Gopher sweater from the program.

To be fair records like this exist because of the dire state of our program in 2008/2009. His best statistical game ever was our 55-0 loss to Iowa in 2008 when he had 283 return yards on 9 total returns. Probably won't ever be broken with all of the touchbacks.

    Christie

I love that both Dennis Evans and Cam Christie seem to not be egotistical.

Gophers among favorites to land 4-star 2023 center Dennis Evans

Strictly off these quotes I like our chances. TCU - they are high energy and professional in practice MN - liked energy and noted play style, talked about his fit in the defense, mentioned Ben, envisioned himself growing into an offensive role
