    Who bought the Hawk?

Hepburn was almost certainly tampered with, whether it ends up being Louisville and/or a package deal with Fidler. Not Storr or Essegian, though. As for Hawkins, MSU wouldn't surprise me - they've been mentioned for the Hepburn/Fidler package, too.

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

The correct term is relegation, but, yes, that does add a lot of intrigue - it's not a perfect parallel. But what is a parallel is the hopelessness of regularly competing for a title or even a top 4 or 5 finish (which qualify for Champions/Europa League). Hey maybe college football is already...

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

Anyone else follow the English Premier League? There's 6 teams out of the 20 that far outspend the others and the champion is almost always one of those 6. If another team jumps up and does well, their best players immediately get snatched by the bigs - sometimes during the year. Yet, it's...

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

Better make sure Asuma is still on board.

2024-25 Big Ten Free Agent Signings

I have no idea of the academic standing of any of these guys coming in for Michigan (though the Yale guy is probably in good shape), but I'm reminded that Caleb Love wasn't allowed to become a Wolverine during the previous coach's reign. My guess is that whole thing isn't a thing for anyone...

Pharrel Payne visiting Indiana this week.

I was witness to an exchange between a reporter and Payne at the Big Ten Media Day where the reporter asked something along the lines of who’s your favorite Gopher of all time (or who’s the best - in that vein). He couldn’t come up with anyone. He explained he wasn’t into the history...

College Basketball Transfer Portal Thread - 2024

There are rumors that he may stay with Omaha - and some of the powers that be (money-wise) in that town may be footing the NIL bill.

Athlon: Are players leaving Wisconsin, Iowa State and Marquette like they are Minnesota?

Georgia Tech, Cal, Houston, Cincy, & Utah are all public schools in metros. You can make the case that Michigan and Colorado are in the outskirts of major metros (esp. if you're counting Rutgers). UCF is in the B12, so that counts.

College Basketball Transfer Portal Thread - 2024

Washington had a coaching change - this was predictable. I would guess most kids choose coaches rather than schools, and most/all new coaches have their own ideas about the type of player they want, too. With the portal, I gotta think it's harder for an incoming frosh to attract a P5 offer at...

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

For ADs in today's world, I think it's gotten really difficult to identify a coach in either basketball or football who a) has head coaching experience, b) has been involved in and had success in portal recruiting at a P5, ideally with average-ish NIL resources, c) has a winning track record...

2024-25 Big Ten Free Agent Signings

Middleton is completely delusional about the NBA. He played 12 mpg and was really inefficient for a mediocre OSU team.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Just so people understand the Storr situation, he put his name in for the NBA draft, and that's his preferred destination. Storr might get a "stay-in-college" grade from the combine (which I think is likely), but that's not until next month. Wisconsin has to proceed as if he's not coming back...

How will we do with our portal additions?

Asuma is (optimistically) currently either the 4th or 5th best player on the roster, but there's 3 players at his position among those 5. They really, really need non-PGs.

Take a deep breath, it’ll be okay.

More based on faith than evidence at this point. It ain’t happening here in the real world.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

That was my point, or at least part of it. With Battle playing a first or second option role, they were last place. He is/was a good college player, but for whatever reason, the team performance wasn't great. Try a different puzzle piece(s). I disagree that there were redundant pieces to Battle...

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Counterpoint: the Gophers were a better team without Battle and they really didn’t replace him with a similar player. Battle was probably a more coveted transfer than Payne, too. That’s arguable, but the point is that maybe removing Payne doesn’t have to be the end of the world.

Take a deep breath, it’ll be okay.

Yes, it is my spin. You have almost no chance to upgrade the team if people don't leave. The status quo wasn't that great. There are guys in the lower levels (that the rich schools bypass) that may come for less to prove themselves at this level. I have no idea who they are, I'm not in the...
