    Game 6: Minnesota V Syracuse (11-20-21)

Oh, and 10 assists for Jazz. Yes, too many turnovers for Kadi. I like the progress that Rose is making. I also like that they are slowing giving her more PT, as the game still seems a bit fast to her on offense...I think that's why she is traveling so often. One thing I like about her is...

    Game 6: Minnesota V Syracuse (11-20-21)

Gophers with the win. Sissoko with 23 points, 13 boards, but 6 turnovers. Scalia with 17 points and 6 boards. Winters, in her first start with 16 points, 6 boards. Helgren with 9 boards. Gophers 17 of 19 on FTs. 10 Gophers played in the game.

    No Mershon today? Injured?

Game 5: Gophers V UConn in the Bahamas (11-20-21)

Not a bad first half for the Gophers offensively, but UConn back-cutting the Gophers to death. Williams with 21 points at the half for UConn, mostly on layups. Scalia and Winters hitting treys. It's starting to look like Winters will get a lot more PT, probably at the expense of Hubbard.

Game 4: Gophers Host American University (11-17-21)

Looks like Rose is working her way toward more minutes. Nice to see everyone get minutes. That may happen against UConn also, but for different reasons. Smith with a couple of rare buckets to go with good D. Hedman with a 3. And some really nice production from LBK in her first game of the...

Yes, have had issues with BIG stream all night.

STrib: Gophers Look Better Defensively With Work Still to Do Offensively

I agree with the assessment that the Gophers should depend less on the threes. Scalia goes through streaks where she falls in love with the three. She's very capable of getting to the hoop. Although Kadi can hit threes, I'd prefer that she hangs around inside the arc, as she is very good at...

Game 3: Gophers Host George Washington (11-14-21)

Sissoko got off to a great start before she left with an injury. Mershon and Winters picked up the rebounding slack and Winters picked up the scoring slack after Sissoko had to leave. Gopher D was solid all day against a talent-short GW team. Nice to see 13 Gopher players see action in an...

Game 2: Gophers Visit Arizona State (11-12-21)

The coaching staff sees these players every day. I have to believe that they establish a "pecking order" based on what they see and not whether someone is from Minnesota or not. On a similar note, I like that the staff was able to figure out that Helgren would be effective against ASU and...

Game 2: Gophers Visit Arizona State (11-12-21)

Rickman asked why Powell was even playing. We now know. 21 points in the second half. 8 rebounds for the night. I know Helgren only scored 2 points, but she set a lot of good screens. Gophers break ASU's 31-game NC winning streak. Gophers played good D.

Nothing But Nylon's B1G Preview & Swish Appeals B1G Preview

My bad. Couldn't figure out how anyone could possibly predict that order. Thanks for the clarification. And you're right about the fact that it's not much of a preview.

What were the folks at Swish Appeal smoking when they made their predictions? Rutgers and Northwestern extremely overvalued. OSU and Iowa really undervalued. Gophers 10th.

    2021-2022 Predictions

Although I won't offer the in-depth predictions that bball did, I am hoping that this team can earn an NCAA tournament bid. I think that's realistic. I think that Maryland, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, and probably Ohio State, will be the top teams in the conference. Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois...

Exhibition: Gophers Host Minnesota Crookston (10-31-21)

Well, it's fair to say that the optimum rotation should be maybe only 8 or 9 players. And that should be true for this year's Gopher roster also. Anything past that, I don't think players can expect to get consistent playing time.

Exhibition: Gophers Host Minnesota Crookston (10-31-21)

Wishing Katie a successful surgery and recovery. Many of us are wondering how Whalen will manage such a large roster. Sometimes injuries make those decisions for coaches. And, as someone previously said, I'd rather have a roster that's too big than one that is too small. Next opponent...

    Borowicz to undergo back surgery

Here's hoping that her surgery and her rehab will be successful. I have high hopes that she'll be a solid contributor in upcoming seasons.

Exhibition: Gophers Host Minnesota Crookston (10-31-21)

Good recap, bball. A couple of additional thoughts. Like most of us, I hadn't seen Deja play before. Her game is intriguing, as she is active and versatile. Again, it's tough to say if she'll be able to do this against tougher competition, but it would be great if she can. I think I might...

    2021-2022 season.

Bottom line is the roster is deep enough and talented enough so that Whalen will be able to let players earn minutes this year. Powell is a very talented: able to get to the hoop, a good passer, decent outside shooter. Last year, she seemed to struggle most with her decision-making. I'm...

Nothing But Nylon's B1G Preview & Swish Appeals B1G Preview

I agree that they seem to have it about right. Although I'm still thinking that OSU and PSU have a chance to move up to the contender category. I might be too optimistic, but I'm hoping that the Gophers can finish in the top half of the conference and secure an NCAA tourney bid. Whalen...
