Envy of None isn't entirely apt; Ted likes them.

    Greater Minnesota Hidden Gems

Niagara Cave in Harmony is impressive if you swing through far SE MN, named as such because of a big waterfall in the cave. You could stop by Rockfilter Distillery in Spring Grove, and Lanesboro has a charming historic downtown.

    Bands/Artists From Minnesota!

As a novice banjo player who has no idea what he's talking about, I am bothered that the TBT banjoist appears to be using a pick.

I always thought of PNS as a low-rent TBT. It's one thing to do that on MPR; it's another thing to do this on Letterman.

    NEW MUSIC

I just stumbled upon this song, having never heard of Bleachers. Came out last year. Some great nostalgic synth pop, very catchy.

I mean...Gary, IN has as much of a claim at Chicago, IL.

I'll see your Staple Sisters and raise you the Andrews Sisters. :p

    Bands/Artists From Minnesota!

Anybody remember Unknown Prophets? This song is a little goofy, but gotta love all the MN references. "Bleed maroon and gold for our beloved Golden Gophers"

And you of course can't mention Mpls hip hop without Heiruspecs.

    Bands/Artists From Minnesota!

Yeah, I'm with Ted & Ope. Mpls/MN smokes Seattle and Chicago. Especially Chicago, which I don't think of as a music city. I was digging through old CDs this weekend and rediscovered No Bird Sing. LOVE this song.

Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters Drummer, Dies at 50

While I was never much into their music, Grohl & Hawkins (and I assume the others in the band) seem like genuinely good dudes.

    NEW MUSIC

It's a year old now, but picked Jon Batiste's newest album a couple weeks ago. Lyrics are a little hokey but the music is solid, mixing various genres. Here's the title track.

    coffee

I'm also not a coffee drinker. Iced green tea or an Arnie Palmer are my go-to drinks. Off-topic, but my dry January has turned into a dry 2022. Only had two drinks yet this year. I've shed a couple pounds, and my skin hasn't looked this good in a long time. Not that I was a heavy drinker...

    All Things 2022 Winter Olympics

But that's kind of my point. USOC throws a couple people under the bus and washes its hands of it.

    All Things TV Series Recommendations/Reviews

The characters are what make Fargo for me. Even Season 4. I thought Chris Rock was great, and that nurse lady was a riot. The actual stories are pretty lame, IMO. But the characters are what sell it.

    All Things 2022 Winter Olympics

I didn't watch the Olympics this year as much as prior years. But I have to say, Johnny Weir is a delightful commentator.

    All Things 2022 Winter Olympics

Before we get too high on our horse, we may want to turn that mirror on ourselves. Look at how US Track & Field or Gymnastics run their athletes. Many US track & field medalists were later known to be doping. The difference is that the ROC is state-sponsored, so the whole country takes the...

    Camp Randall Stadium. Madison, Wi

If CR smells like urine, I may be partly to blame. We were on our way to MI to watch the hockey Gophers play in Ann Arbor. Instead of one of WI's many fine wayside rest areas, we decided to relieve ourselves on CR. I'm not looking for virtual pats-on-the-back, just offering the suggestion...

    Camp Randall Stadium. Madison, Wi

Well, The Bank has a bank of these outside Gate A. Heck, even the taj mahal Ohio Stadium has these scattered throughout. There are certainly worse things about CR.

    Camp Randall Stadium. Madison, Wi

I've been to WI & IA each thrice. IA is the fun drunks; WI is the mean drunks. Only more hostile fans I've experienced is SCSU hockey.
