    Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

In your world Jackson Purcell would also threaten the guards for a loss of playing time. Maybe he is CBJ's secret weapon this season? Unless Ben told Jackson he could not compete for playing time, but that would be weird considering he earned the final scholarship last season.

It would be inSane24 if Ben promised Williams playing time. I'm trying to give him some credit.

Asking to be released from a letter of intent and entering the transfer portal are the same thing? You can't transfer from a school you never attended.

Sure, I doubt he promised Williams anything more than a chance to compete.

"Unless Christie's return bumps Mike Mitchell to PG. That would squeeze PG's PT sharing with Mitchell and Asuma at 1; Grigsby and Caleb Williams at 2; Christie and Odukale at 3." Why would that happen? If Christie returned he would be starting with Michell and Patterson. Just like how he...

Patterson would be pencilled in as starting PG whether or not Christie is back. Rigsby and Odukale would have more to worry about. Fortunately they already committed.

    Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

Players in college have been under the microscope for awhile but have been somewhat protected by the status of "student athlete", now that they are borderline pros, I am curious to see how some will handle what will surely be increased scrutiny now that they are openly being paid.

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

Wilson was our 10th guy basically all year, Ramberg and Reader were the 13th and 14th, Wilson was brought in to be our backup center and he was basically unplayable, huge miss especially with Payne's back issues this season. A quality backup there would have gone a long way this year.

Oregon transfer Brennan Rigsby commits to MN

Good signing if his primary role is combo guard off the bench, will be a problem if he ends up starting.

    Frank Mitchell commits

If he sat out an entire season for transferring, it would not have counted against his eligibility.

    Frank Mitchell commits

This is exactly the player we needed last year instead of Jack Wilson, better late than never good signing.

    College Basketball has permanently changed

I don't think so, Carr transferred here after the coach who recruited him at Pitt was fired and had to sit out. There has been an argument in favor of this, but I don't believe it was ever actually a qualifying waiver reason.

    Payne, Carrington, Ola-Joseph and Ihnen...

He's the head coach for the team that is the subject of this forum, do you expect not to see discussion about him? Coyle has made his NCAA expectations public, so of course every move forward is critical. He will need to achieve something he hasn't is first 3 years or he is gone. I am not sure...

Silence from Hawkins and Christie is deafening!

Back then you could go through the actual draft and if you didn't get picked or didn't like where you got drafted, you had the option to return. Now you have to pull out prior to the draft or you lose remaining eligibility.
