I think Sophie is all around doing a nice job of knowing when to go up with the ball and when to kick out. The Gophers did not have that last year. Coaching or player idk but that is a noticeable difference for me!

That is actually crazy to me, since she was a top 100 kid. I’m guessing her build wouldn’t fit into all systems, but I’m very impressed with her!

I respectfully disagree, they are better shooters this year. Adding GG adds another legit 3 point shooter. Battle has improved her 3 point shot. Mara is just good. I believe they will make the tournament this year.

Johnson is ranked 61st in her class by ESPN….she is a scorer. I believe she will help. I also think McKinney and Klick could help with their nice length and ability to play defense. Lots to be excited for this year and the next few at least!

I was surprised Providence won that game…. They are more legit than I want them to be. Not good for 2A basketball…..they could win 5 years in a row…..

One thing that is becoming a little clearer is the rotation from the bench. They went 9 today but AJ only played 2 minutes. I believe they will only go 8 in close games. I’m actually glad they signed a couple of guards for next season. I see the Wisconsin kid taking over Saunders minutes.

Probably not what was drawn up, but I believe it was a good decision. She had the open drive. Just didn’t finish.

In my honest opinion this has been the most important game the Gophers have played this season. A tournament team last year and probably this year. Showed a major fight. Bench finally able to help out. Great win Gophs!

I believe Maddyn is a great player. I also have thought she gets bailed out a lot and on the opposite end doesn’t get called. She is very active with the referees. Yep! I can’t think of any shot taken that I went “what a terrible shot”. GG Braun and Heyer are good 3 point shooters. Had to release quicker than they are used to. This game will make them better. UConn is also probably better than the 8th best team. They also just beat Maryland by 32 points.

It shows that Minnesota has 5 top 100 recruits…. UConn has a whole team of them. Very concerned

Correct on all accounts. One thing I think this game did show is Minnesota is not deep against good teams. We know AJ and Holloway are projects. I found myself cringing every time a starter was off the court. Even Sophie.

In her time at Minnesota my biggest complaint about her was not understanding the game. Mostly when to shoot and when to pass. So it doesn’t honestly surprise me that much that she struggled with the offense.

I disagree. I like that coach P was fired up. The team had way too many turnovers. I don’t think this team is playing for wins over LIU, as I assume they have tournament goals. She is not coaching to make fans, she is coaching to win games. I already like that.

I noticed right away that GG was in the starting 5. I know it’s just a scrimmage, but I liked it. I’m hoping this means she is the real deal!

I saw Tori at a Breakdown event a couple of weeks ago. She wasn’t playing. (Didn’t look injured or anything, probably just resting) She was wearing a Gopher shirt that day. Hope that’s a good sign!

It’s nice to get a better feel of the roster. I think it will be fine either way. Fine if they add another, and fine just like this. Very excited for the season
