Collection of tweets after Gophers win

The horror that MN trolled a WI tradition after victory! After taking back Paul Bunyan's Axe, Wisconsin pretended to row a boat with it on Minnesota's field WI fans have really thin skin.

Have we officially caught up to Wisconsin?

What some prognosticator thinks before a season starts makes absolutely zero difference. Results on the field matter. Wisconsin lost to a bad Illinois team in '19 as 30 point favorites.

Why is 2022 a "tough rebuild year"?

OL is the biggest concern by far. But IIRC the potential starting OL next year played together against NE last year and looked pretty decent. There's a chance there's not a big drop off from this year, but a lot will hinge on how well the OL plays. Other than that, I think there's talent...

Have we officially caught up to Wisconsin?

You win or lose to WI in the trenches. In '19, WI beat us on both sides of the ball at the line of scrimmage. This year, we didn't overwhelm them, but I'd say we beat them in the trenches. I also think our skill players and young talent are better. I think that's more indicative of where we are...

Gophers BEAT wisconsin Post Game Thread

You can’t make this up. Their secondary grabs, pulls, tussles almost every contested play. They’re one of the most aggressive secondaries out there and this kid is whining about one or two calls. I can say with certainty that there wasn’t one play I saw yesterday feeling objectively that we got...

Jim Polzin: Wisconsin football's failure against rival Minnesota 'a disgrace to the program

I’m probably one that believes Mertz is decent but is in the wrong offense for him at WI. Their receivers aren’t anything special and certainly didn’t do him any favors.

Wouldn’t shock me if some journalists have accounts and occasionally post. It would shock me if they were trolls though. I always picture trolls to be some sort of societal reject. I wouldn’t say that journalists fit that mold.

Gophers NOT in AP Top 25

At least WI dropped from the rankings. I can live with that.

Firing refs for one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen in my lifetime somehow equates to “let’s fire every ref who makes a bad call”? Nice stretch there 👍

I said no such thing and you’re being purposely obtuse. Good on you 👍

Yes. If someone is excruciatingly bad at their job they should be fired. It’s not a novel concept.

You fine refs that make egregiously bad calls. Like the OSU hit on Leidner, those refs should never work another game ever again.

    I hope Morgan comes back

Disagree. The BG loss was on the coaches IMO. The run game wasn’t working as well last night and outside of the tip pass that turned into a pick-6, he had a helluva game last night.

Collection of tweets after Gophers win

Make no mistake, yesterday wasn’t a fluky win. Saw some badger faithful complain that if Allen would’ve been healthy it would’ve been a different ballgame. The irony that we were on our 3rd/4th string RBs and lost a preseason All-American for the season was lost on them. I remember in 2019 I...

What I meant by review is that officials make the determination whether it’s egregious (and suspended) or not (and not suspended). “Review” was a poor word choice. I’m fine if the NCAA adds that distinction in, but still think the hit last night was egregious even though I’ve seen hits even...

    Targeting

Targeting at the high school level is also quite a bit more broadly defined. There’s more nuance at the high school level because of that and, after review, players can be suspended - likely for the same actions that the NCAA automatically suspends players.

Lazy take. It most certainly a rule in high school. There are fines in the NFL.

There were plenty of things that player could’ve done differently in that moment. He chose to do the most dangerous action for the big hit on one of our star players. If that ain’t cheap, I don’t know what is.

Watching it, the intent was clear the kid was trying to make a big hit to the head area on CAB. It was 100% the correct call.

2021 Gopher Football - The what if season

Either Simon was given more actual OC duties or Sanford really improved towards the end of the year. If Simon was actually taking on more responsibility, Sanford is gone. If not, Sanford stays. We’ll know soon enough.
