    Has Minnesota Surpassed Wisconsin?

You're right. Any of those timeframes would be an interesting comparison. If you're asking me to pick a timeframe, I'd say that it's mostly about the Fleck era. He's been Minnesota's coach of record for 8 seasons now, and will probably be the Gopher coach for the foreseeable future. Since...

    Has Minnesota Surpassed Wisconsin?

So is it total number of fans in the stands, then, rather than consecutive sellouts? If so, I guess our football program is... what? 'Permanently handicapped', perhaps, by the smaller seating capacity of our stadium? So many ways to determine the trajectory of a football program. Confusing...

    Has Minnesota Surpassed Wisconsin?

So — to take your line of reasoning a bit farther — would you therefore rate Nebraska as one of the best football programs in the B1G? They have had a boatload of consecutive sellout crowds after all.

Some delicious facts regarding the big win over Wisconsin

I'm not sure if you're saying Iowa's offense is improved, or claiming they are actually fairly good. Their running game is based on the sheer excellence and talent of one single stud player, not on any coaching philosophy or schematic improvement. Their new offensive coordinator isn't exactly...

Some delicious facts regarding the big win over Wisconsin

If only we had been runners-up in some conference championship games; THEN we would be justified in visiting a rivals' fan site and "flexing". Oh, and we could do so immediately after getting curb-stomped by those same rivals. Come on, man.

Scoggins: Max Brosmer’s gift to the Gophers is how he’s allowed coach P.J. Fleck to evolve

Well said. P.J. had to replace both his quarterback and his defensive coordinator in one offseason, and both of the replacements he found were home runs. 2024 will be remembered for thrilling games, and what might have been had we caught a better break here and there. Oh, so close!

Don't take this personally, but having a coach at Minnesota who is despised by Sconnie fans is a real bonus in Fleck's favor.

Luke Fickell is in how much trouble?

But, but, but... he runs a MODERN offense! I've been told, repeatedly, that a MODERN offense solves all problems.

Should Minnesota vs Wisconsin stay on Black Friday

I don't know if we should play Wisconsin on Black Friday or not. But here's my thought: as long as Fickell is coach, the Gophers should play Wisconsin EVERY WEEK!

Scoggins: Max Brosmer’s gift to the Gophers is how he’s allowed coach P.J. Fleck to evolve

Yes... And he's not tall. He doesn't have a Big Arm, and he's not much of a runner. Yet he's a helluva QB. Go figure!

If it's any comfort to you, there are folks on Gopher Hole who think Brosmer is mediocre.

I would really, really, REALLY like to play Iowa again this season. My word, they're awful on offense.

Iowa had 3 scoring drives. Here they are: 1) 4 plays, 2 yards gained. FIELD GOAL. 2) 3 plays, 86 yards (72 yard screen pass to Johnson). TOUCHDOWN. 3) 3 plays, 1 yard. FIELD GOAL.

The Hawkeyes had 49 yards rushing. 1.9 yards per attempt. Iowa had 115 yards passing. Kaleb Johnson took a screen pass for 72 of those yards! If someone on Nebraska's team simply makes a tackle on that one screen pass, Iowa would have ended up with somewhere around 45 yards passing, to go...

Scoggins: Max Brosmer’s gift to the Gophers is how he’s allowed coach P.J. Fleck to evolve

I see it a bit differently. To me, Fleck has always run an offense that suits the strengths of his current roster of players. When he had Tanner Morgan, Rashad Bateman, Tyler Johnson and Rodney Smith he ran an offense that suited the personnel. When he had Mo Ibrahim and a bunch of gigantic...
