If you had asked a well informed CFB fan after the 2003 Sun Bowl who between Minnesota and Oregon was more like to win a championship in the next decade, people would have said Minnesota. Tides come and go. All it takes is a salary cap or a wealthy donor and Minnesota can do it too.

Yup, but teams also go out of their way to peak with good classes. It’s the reason that Wisconsin is so bad this year. They are finding their guys for 3 years from now. They look weak with a Sophomore QB and new offense right now. They won’t next year.

Not about the opponents like it was last year. About the team next year. Totally new offensive line (as bad as they have been, they can get worse). New QB. New receivers. Going to be a totally new offense and likely not a good one. Good season to have low expectations and just enjoy the...

Not sure how next year is not a rebuilding year. Year 0 all over again.

Yup, need everything to come together at the same time. Agree they have been good. They are not this year.

I disagree with this. There's more parity this year than we've seen in a very long time. Gophers would be utter sh*t this year if not for Brosmer, for example.

You can't compete with a bad offensive line. It would take a good offensive line.

Does Fleck need to fire OC Harbaugh?

We don’t always agree but we do on this. I like the offense this year. I have liked it since the Iowa game. The problem with this year is a very bad center. I do think there is a giant risk that the scheme we’re running is going to be way too hard for our freshman QB next year. It’s mostly...

That UCLA team was way better than people gave them credit for. They gained like ~8 yards per play against the Gophers. Only reason Minnesota walked away with the W was UCLA's absurd penalty yardage and three turnovers.

    Brosmer is not a stud.

Yes, he was. From the first snap it was clear that he was a huge upgrade over last year.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT ILLINOIS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Those were two super low probability plays in a row. 1 - Throwing way across the field to the weak side on a slow developing play. 2 - Running a fake punt where your punter needs to run like 20 yards to pick up the first. It was an incredibly stupid sequence from PJ.

I did not fully appreciate how much Fox broadcasts suck until we got NBC

Brosmer really hitting his stride - 1st 4 vs. last 4

If the Gophers get out to a big lead against any of Illinois, Rutgers, or Wisconsin then I bet that we’re going to see Lindsay play again this year.

Brosmer really hitting his stride - 1st 4 vs. last 4

Harbaugh also started calling a totally different offense against Iowa. The Gophers were snapping the ball with 25+ seconds left on the clock at times yesterday while winning. Thank you Fleck for adapting to the environment and I was wrong about Harbaugh. (I think…)

POST GAME THREAD: GOPHERS COMPLETE HOLLYWOOD SWEEP!!

Yeah wait sorry. I'm wrong. I said this because he had 2 total tackles and I watched him run past the ball carrier twice in run support, but I just went back and watched every play. The ball never went his way in the first half and that's why. The first time anyone threw at him he picked it.

Scary to think about what happens next year. He's going to be the only vet on that line. He looks totally lost.

Y’all dumped on me for not being upset about the UNC game. I like watching the gameplay the Ws and Ls are secondary.

He’s still a liability as a position player. Out of position at times, didn’t get home in pass rush, coverage is not anything to write home about. He’s explosive and a ball hawk. That’s a great base to build from but he’s not ‘elite’ until he’s a positive contributor at every task.
