Do MN really suck that bad?

Love all your posts, PMW. But occasionally there are just odd circumstances. You can go with that or not. But I'm a fan of yours no matter what.

Do MN really suck that bad?

It's definitely one of the two.

Do MN really suck that bad?

Yep. I do. But there are some things that make this make sense. And I'd rather not say. (Although if you want to meet up for a drink....!)

Do MN really suck that bad?

Well, it's a high-end private boutique tech school. So that only leaves so many options. I'd prefer not to be more specific because of other things I've said in the past that could lead (who knows why?) people to me. That said, I'm sure you could work it out with not that many guesses.

Do MN really suck that bad?

Without getting into it, a high-end boutique school that focuses on tech. But that's not the point. The point is the squandering of the opportunity for intelligent MN kids.

Do MN really suck that bad?

A boutique sort of high-end school. Not UMN, although I love the school and root for UMN without rest!

Do MN really suck that bad?

I'll take your view as genuine. But you really don't know what you're talking about. I'll take the top 20 AMLAW law firms and find the number of UMN grads that get summer internships/jobs and UMich grads. It's about 50:1 in favor of UMich. Maybe more tilted. But the shitty party is that it...

Do MN really suck that bad?

Not really. Try using that pedigree to go to the top Wall Street firms or the top management consulting firms (MBB), and so on. The reality is, Carlson is not Ross, for example. Not even close. Carlson is good, but far from great. And the kids who go to Ross would never go to Carlson. And...

Do MN really suck that bad?

Agree. But, this goes to my point: the mandate for the U of MN has never been to be top-notch. So it's not. if you have a kid that wants to break into the top echelons, you send him/her elsewhere. (Not saying it's impossible from UMN, but saying it's swimming upstream.). That's what I did...

Do MN really suck that bad?

If there are 50 state flagships, and you are ranked #23.... You're just above mediocre. I don't agree that "we suck." It's just that we're not Michigan or Berkeley or UCLA or UVA or UNC or Texas. We could be. But we don't have the institutional mandate of being elite. Which is a pity.

Don't be surprised if the SEC and Big Ten go pro in the future...

Before you eliminate the 4-year eligibility limits, you secretly encourage the athletes to establish a players union. Then you negotiate salary caps with the union, so you're within the antitrust laws. THEN you eliminate the eligibility caps. I agree with 100% of what you've said.

Do MN really suck that bad?

Well... I think Minnesota is not what it could be. As a whole, it is a just-above-mediocre flagship public school that is situated in a somewhat high end metropolis. But we've not turned into the sort of top-notch place we could be. We're not Berkeley or Michigan or UCLA or UVA or Texas or...

Athlon Sports reports Clemson, Florida State, Oregon, and Washington

I would prefer UF and Georgia Tech. State schools, very top end. And UF produces a good football team more often than it doesn't. They'd delivery TV sets in Florida/Atlanta. Makes a ton of sense.

Video: New Kid On The Block | Kadyn Betts

Now that I'm 51 and have a pair of kids in their twenties, all of these guys seem like kids to me, and I just want to take them home and feed them. LOL. Life has changed.

247: College football's 10 teams set to rise, tumble in 2023 (Set to tumble: Minnesota)

I'm optimistic about the "parts" that will constitute the new Gopher "machine." I think that, end-to-end, they have higher top-end capability. That said, I sort of suspect that this year will be a year of watching the parts come together to form a smoothly operating machine. Next year is the...

Gophers 2023 rushing yard leader will be...

Evans. As for Taylor, playing time at the RB position is not determined by what you can do with the ball in your hands. It's determined by what you do when the ball is not in your hands. That takes about a year in the system. I doubt he sees much playing time this year.

So I did a little work today (Mo vs Sean Tyler...)

It's not every time. Off the top of my head, I saw those loss figures come up several times. I didn't think to track the actual yards lost. From watching their game against Michigan State, I could see that he lost a big chunk of yards by retreating to loop around a DE in order to get to the...
