Match 6: Gophers host LIU (9-12-24)

Good match. A lot of people got to play. The reserve players did a great job. I wish they would start the season with matches like this one rather than jump into the fire. LIU played well and made the Gophers focus and work.

Match 5: Gophers host St. Thomas (9-10-24)

Scary match. The Tommies will be playing with no pressure and swinging freely. The Gophers have a lot to lose and could be very tight. I hope the Gophers play well and can use this match to fix some problems.

Match 4: Gophers v TCU (at Baylor) (9-10-24)

I don't think the glass is empty, but I am not sure whether it is half empty or half full. They seem to have trouble focusing on points, situations, and streaks, but they don't quit. In the fifth set, they seemed to decide that they were going to live and die with Hansen. I kept hoping that...

    Match 3: Gophers @ Baylor (9-6-24)

Wucherer didn't play the last two sets. Did she get hurt or was she sick? She certainly didn't have good stats.

What grade would you give Max Brosmer in his first game with the Gophers?

I would give him a "B." However, I would give the coaching staff a "C-" on play calling and game management.

Match 1: Gophers v Stanford in Milwaukee (9-1-24)

Moments of brilliance. Good blocking and middle kills. Did a lot of good digging and receiving in the first three sets. Got out of sorts in the 4th and 5th sets. They had 23 service errors. That is the same script as the first half of last season. Serving is something that they should have...

Y'all are blaming the wrong thing for that loss...

Disappointing loss. Poor play calling and we can't blame that on the QB these days. Monday's practice should be Tackling 101 and Route Running 101.

Most people probably don't know who she is.

    Gophers Women's Hockey 2024-25 Season

I doubt Abby was left off the team for one hit and ejection, or that she makes "cheap shots." I think she got left off because of the enormous number of penalties that she gets. Leading the NCAA by over 10 penalties is a terrible distinction. You cannot have a risky player who might get a...

The answer is both matter. Freshmen can provide long-term stability assuming they don't jump ship for NIL Transfers are important to fill holes and provide experience, maturity, and leadership. Transfers have the added benefit in that you know more about how they perform at a higher level of...

    2025 Recruiting

I agree that Braun is not WNBA caliber now. However, she has two more years and I am hoping that she can improve her game enough to get into the WNBA. She needs to improve her ability to get to the basket and her defense. I see some similarities with Scalia, who didn't get into the WNBA this...

    Gopher 2026 Volleyball Commitments

We have capable coaches in most sports. They are greatly handicapped in recruiting and retaining players by the transfer portal and NIL monies. We need Coyle to step up his efforts in developing NIL monies. Until Minnesota completes in the NIL game, most Gopher sports will not be at the elite...

Your thoughts on the new Gophers uniforms?

I am fine with the uniforms as long as they are not black or gray, and have maroon and gold.

    Transfer Portal 2024

The reason using contrast to make a point is objectionable is that so many people are in a hurry and they read a line or a headline and they pass the information on as true. Yes, people should read more and do fact checks but most don't have the time and resources. This is how disinformation...

    Transfer Portal 2024

A higher number of college players than ????? I agree that cold and snow is a deterrent to some players. Hot and humid climates, as I have experienced a lot, are not great either. On the other hand, the Twin Cities are much nicer than the many of the cities that players are choosing. The...

    Transfer Portal 2024

But, the Gophers don't have them and likely won't have players of their caliber until they become a perennial first division team. And, even if the Gophers climb into first division, they are not going to get every one of the elite Minnesota players because many kids like to get away from home...

    Transfer Portal 2024

As long as Minnesota coaches cater to Coyle and influential alumni and have essentially all Minnesota players, Minnesota basketball will be perennial second division teams.

Thank you. It is newsworthy. I don't like struggling with some links without knowing something about the information beforehand because I live in an area with slow Internet.
