    Gophers Remaining schedule

After what happened to FSU last year, I'm convinced we could get to 9-3 and they'd take a 6-6 SEC team over us.

The Gophers likely lose the USC and UCLA games without Koi Perich's big plays. They'd have a 2-5 record right now.

That's the nature of close games. Didn't have a lot of margin for error in either USC or UCLA. So one blown or made play by lots of players could have been the difference. Conversely, North Carolina and Michiga. were close losses. Bet there are a lot of individual players where a few less...

POST GAME THREAD: GOPHERS COMPLETE HOLLYWOOD SWEEP!!

What a difference two weeks makes. Before USC, every game on the schedule felt losable, except maybe UCLA (not saying i thought we'd lose all the them, just that there was no individual game i felt confident we'd win), and we were wondering where six would come from to get to a bowl. All of a...

    2024-2025 Gopher Soccer

Hopefully we beat PSU, but if told told me we'd come away with 1 win out of those two games before the OSU game, I'd have taken it. I don't care about almost lowing a lead any more than I care about almost winning. It's competitive sports, you either win or lose (or, in some sports, tie)...

    Gophers Women's Hockey 2024-25 Season

Hopefully we get five points when we get them at home to even up the head to head. We played a couple of solid games, but if we want to contend for a conference title, getting one out of six points is rough.

What grade would you give Gophers coaches in win over UCLA?

Did not have the team ready to play in the first half, so no A from me this week. But, they adjusted well and won it in the second, so a solid B. Can't afford to only play one half against better teams, but was good enough against the opponent we had this week.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT UCLA AT ROSE BOWL STADIUM IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Same as not kicking on the goal line against USC, I disagreed with the coach at the time. But, it worked, so no complaint from me. He trusted his defense and they got him the ball back in good field position, and then the offense executed a good drive. Well-coached second half.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT UCLA AT ROSE BOWL STADIUM IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Wonder what our play calling would have looked like if we got the ball at our own 37 with 46 seconds left in the half and one time out. UCLA was a bad pass from turning that situation into a TD.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT UCLA AT ROSE BOWL STADIUM IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Kind of like when Maryland had the most athletic team in the Big Ten?

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

Ball is oblong, so one chip in the middle wouldn't do it. But two chips placed in the same position on both halves of the ball would tell you exactly where every part of the ball is at any time. For sports with a spherical ball, one in the center would do the trick.

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

We've had plenty of QBs who can make wobbles out of spirals more effectively than any chip possibly could.

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

I agree that it's not a silver bullet that would solve answer every question (including the situation you are describing). But there are lots of plays where every camera angle loses sight of the ball when it goes into the scrum, when they pull everyone off the ball is on the goal line and in the...

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

Whether or not the ball tracks possession, being able to know the precise position on the field of the ball would be a huge benefit in replay. You could know with certainly whether and when the ball broke the plane of the goal line, and (for first down calls) the precise extent of forward progress.

    2024-2025 Gopher Soccer

Huge win. Last night was a sports rollercoaster for me. Had the Gophers on my phone. We were up 1-0. Went outside to play some baseball with my son and came back in to find us up 3-0. Looked away from my phone to make my kids a late dinner, and saw we had given up two quick ones. Then, pissed...

The Athletic: What are the most dangerous trap games for college football’s Top 25 teams? (23. Illinois - November 2 vs Minnesota)

I've always questioned the existence of trap games. Sometimes big upsets happen. But is there any evidence to suggest that a big underdog is more likely to over-perform the analytical models when "trap game" circumstances (like the week before a big game) are present? If so, I've never seen it.

Big Ten TV schedule and tipoff times to be announced at 2 p.m.

Weird that the major networks didn't find more of the games in our gauntlet of a non-conference schedule compelling.

    USC = the new Nebraska?

Even if the argument has merit (his doesn't), whining about the calls after a loss makes it sound like a coach is trying to distract from their own shortcomings. If there is a bad call, let the fans and pundits do the whining.
