Wild game. Twice it felt like we were in position to win, then right on the edge of defeat. Gross was great. Liked the 2.1 relief innings from Remington, too. We got assistance in the number of free passes, but can't complain with 1-0.

The 2024 season is here. I'm cautiously optimistic this will be a better year and team will at least get back to Big 10 tourney. Wietgrefe, Novotny, and Semb listed as the starters for first three games in Surpirse; Monday starter TBD. Let's roll!

I thought it was a mistake to leave Hawkins on bench in first half while we fell behind so much, but they proved me wrong. Nice - and badly needed - comeback win. Fox with nice minutes, and just a pretty solid second half all around. Go Gophers!

If there was ever a game to get a player with 2 fouls back inti the game in the first half, this was it, in my opinion. Really bad half.

Big 10 Plus is a subscription-based streaming service. Last I checked, it was $10 per month option for a single school (i.e. all Gopher events), or there is a sport-specific option (i.e. all Big 10 softball games for the season, not just Gophers) that I think was more (40 dollars iirc)...

Generally, the home school (via its conference affiliation and the media rights holders for the conference) determines what media platform the game will be on. For Big 10 conference games and home non-conference games, the majority will be on BTN+, with a few on BTN (e.g. last year, 5 of these...

I too thought they might expand it to 16. However, maybe they are thinking they don't want the 9 and 10 seeds (presumably bubble teams most years) to have to play games on Wednesday against weak opponents (15 and 16) where a loss really stings and a win doesn't help.

Really thought they were dead in the water at halftime. Very nice comeback. Hawkins was much better in clutch time in this one (he was actually on the floor!) had the key sequence of the long three and then drawing the charge defensively. Ola-Joseph really good, Mitchell hit shots and also...

Coyle strikes me as an AD that doesn't care all that much about non-revenue sports (...at least compared to prior athletic directors such as Maturi...), and probably is fine with status quo as long as the program isn't committing violations or absurdly bad. However, what do others think?

Wikipedia says it last happened in the 2016 Heart of Dallas bowl, which featured North Texas and Army. Oddly enough, North Texas was a 5-7 APR selection. Most prior to that, the 2012 Liberty Bowl was a rematch between Iowa State and Tulsa.

Agree with @BleedGopher - the non-conference schedules between the two sports make a straight overall record a bit difficult to compare. Wacker coached in an era of just an 11 game schedule (so, only 3 non-conference games) and they played some good teams in non-conference during his tenure...

It would be very difficult to be anything but very down on this program right now. We have not played very well since the 11 minute mark of the Missouri game. It just looks like a team that will finish at or near the bottom in conference again and not even sniff NIT.

Our guards were badly outplayed and we got very little from Ola-Joseph and Ihnen. We scored only 8 points in final 9+ minutes - not good. Reminded me of UNLV game last year, where they had better ball handlers who could hit some shots and we think 'Hey, maybe they are better than we think and...
