    Winning the west

Agreed- only way we'd get the Rose Bowl is if we won the B1G. Even in the wild situation of OSU and UM both making the playoff (I find it doubtful but have seen it predicted), I think Penn State gets it over us.

    Athan Kaliakmanis struggles?

If he can work out the kinks while Mo lets the team cruise to victory, that's fine by me. Coaching staff will have a tough call to make this week, especially with the West back in play. Do you go with the experienced guy who should make fewer mistakes, or the guy who might provide additional...

    Winning the west

No 3-way tie situations that would benefit the Gophers, if that's what you're looking for. Purdue winning out gives them a 6-3 conference record. Only one of Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota can end with a 6-3 record since they all have yet to play one another and have 3 losses already. The only...

    Helmet tease

This is genuinely the first time that I think one of our uni combos looks bad. There’s… a lot going on. I’ve had some that I wasn’t a fan of, but could understand the appeal. I just don’t know about these ones.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NEBRASKA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Announcers: "Now Minnesota can go back to what they want to do: run the ball." Please, for the love of God, just do what you've done the last two possessions PJ.

Looks like they're actually giving AK the chance to throw unlike the PSU game. Let's see what he's got.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NEBRASKA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt crazy hearing that. Offenses literally target MSM in the passing game because of his lack of speed.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NEBRASKA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for getting Athan experience before next year, and he certainly has more mobility, but Athan vs. Tanner will not be the difference between a win and a loss this season. The problems run far deeper than the QB.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NEBRASKA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Ding ding ding. There are near-zero QBs in the country who would find success with what we're putting out there on offense. The only upgrade that would help significantly would be a QB who can scramble when WRs can't get open and the O-Line inevitably lets 3 guys through instantly.

What new stuff would you like to see at the bank?

I will forever die on the hill that the student section should be lower-level only, using up all of the bleacher seats around that endzone. Not sure how the numbers would compare but I always think students should be closer to the action.

Despite my never-ending hatred of Duke, that campus is also awesome to see when you’re in the area.

Hot take: We're just fine, PJ is doing fine.

The post I replied to: “PJ has made it very clear that he has a man-crush with Morgan and until his eligibility is exhausted, he will play, no matter how poorly”. But yes, I ultimately agree with your statement as the team goes forward. I preferred the experience of Tanner when this season...

Hot take: We're just fine, PJ is doing fine.

I wouldn’t have a problem with Athan playing from here on out given where the season has ended up. The way this team performing, I honestly don’t think the QB is going to be the difference between a win and a loss going forward. It’s going to fall on the success of the O-Line in the run game and...

Hot take: We're just fine, PJ is doing fine.

    - Do you genuinely think Athan playing over Tanner this year would have added any wins to the schedule? I agree that he has a higher ceiling, and the argument can be made that it’s time to play him and accelerate his development, but I don’t understand those who still convinced that Tanner...

PJ Fleck has become Jerry Kill

Completely valid- I’d be curious to see what it looks like for college as well but I haven’t had any luck in searching either.

PJ Fleck has become Jerry Kill

Yep, it’s gotten to the point where it feels like you can confidently tell after two drives if the game is going to be a loss.

PJ Fleck has become Jerry Kill

I’m far from the “fire everyone” boat, but here’s the most alarming thing for me with PJ: He’s a combined 7-41 when trailing at half between WMU and MN, with a 2-21 record in these games at Minnesota. They show up with a gameplan and that’s it. Sometimes, the gameplan works beautifully (Auburn...

    Refs

The wild thing to me on the INT was that the broadcast crew never even mentioned that MBS fell down on the play (let alone whether it was DPI or not). Instead, they just repeatedly talked about how dumb of a throw it was. Just bizarre.

Despite Penn State loss, Athan Kaliakmanis offers intriguing glimpse of Gophers football future

I saw enough to be optimistic for him to take the reins next year. He had some pretty serious happy feet on his dropbacks, but he certainly has the arm talent to make some big plays. There’s not much a freshman QB will be able to do when a defense can just send massive blitzes and lock every...
