***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS SYRACUSE PINSTRIPE BOWL IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Someone in that convoy has to slip in right behind MSM and keep the Syracuse guy off him for an easy scoop and score.

Redding doesn't get enough credit back there. Not only the big returns he has, but just a consistent guy to have receiving kicks. Never worried about him muffing one.

You do seem like the kind of guy to drastically overestimate length measurements

I think Tanner's biggest shortcoming in the last couple years has been that he's too conservative and afraid to make mistakes. These mid to lower tier bowl games allow him to let loose a bit more and we've seen the result.

Is it too much to commend Kaliakmanis without dogging Morgan like you did in your original comment?

And that’s a throw Morgan does make. Go ahead and keep shitting on the kid who’s given everything for this program.

Receiver room looks great next year

I’m still not sure where the effort thing is coming from, but I completely agree that he’s not great at getting separation. His strength is 50/50 balls. Tanner never wanted to throw those contested balls, so Dylan disappeared for big stretches. Athan was a bit more willing to take those risks...

Are the Gophers tooling up for the AK Era?

Exactly. People seem to be forgetting that Bateman and Johnson put up great numbers in 2019. That offense wasn’t significantly different than what we’ve seen in recent years, just tweaked a bit. PJ has shown that he’s willing to capitalize on the talent available: recently it’s been Mo, before...

Brutal stat: 101 different programs have advanced to the Sweet 16 since the Gophers last appearance in 1997

Not that this would have changed much in the long term, but I’m still salty about the tournament draw that season. I still contend that the MTSU “upset” was completely manufactured by overseeding Minnesota and underseeding MTSU, a team that had virtually the same roster that had beaten MSU as a...

    Rose Bowl given an ultimatum.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-playoff-expansion-how-a-12-team-field-would-have-looked-in-each-of-last-eight-seasons/amp/ Sure, top 5ish looks pretty similar year to year, but everything beyond that is pretty varied.

Big Ten 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Team Offense

Deserved by Mo, but you can’t just omit receiving TDs in this list- makes it 19-13 for Mo, far from “almost twice as many”.

Markus Allen Commits to the Gophers

There is very clearly a subset of WI players who have taken issue with how their coaching situation has been handled this year- I’d say that’s a safe bet.

Markus Allen Commits to the Gophers

I mentioned this elsewhere, but I don’t think Dylan really did anything different against Wisconsin. Athan just seemed more willing to take the risk of throwing 50/50 balls his way, which is where he’s always excelled. I still think Dylan leaves some to be desired in his ability to get open, but...

Athan grew up a lot today

As a whole, Athan has been more willing to take risks- which played directly into Wright’s biggest strength of winning 50/50 balls. Tanner hasn’t seemed as willing to put the ball up there and let Wright win the battle like Athan did against Wisconsin.

Athan grew up a lot today

The issue last week wasn’t that they ran a lot- obviously that was successful. The issue was that they had Athan only hand the ball off for virtually the entire second half, and then expected him and the receivers to be able to throw the ball after doing nothing for almost an hour of real time...

    2023 Offensive Scheme

Maybe I'm dead wrong on this, but I'm still pretty convinced that our "read option" plays are decided by the sideline pre-snap rather than the QB actually reading the defenders live. I'd like to see Athan have some more freedom to make that call himself.

Reusse: Gophers should be in market for transfer QB. The redshirt freshman needs to win job, not have it handed to him.

I’ve been saying the same thing all year for Tanner (and now Athan). There is not a single quarterback who would have consistent success with the way the offense is run. Like you said- when you have a QB hand the ball off for virtually an entire half and then suddenly call his name to throw...

    Athan Kaliakmanis struggles?

The bolded is just blatantly untrue. Pull up highlights from the 2019 season. Tanner made plenty NFL-caliber throws that year. Did having NFL-talent receivers contribute to his confidence to make those throws? Absolutely. But let's not pretend like he did nothing of significance that year...
