Has an intriguing track and field profile--Runs sprints, does the long jump/triple jump, and also throws shot put (with a 45 foot throw) for Rockford. Was on a state qualifying 4x1 team as well.

You realize he was a starter (as a RS Freshman) for the Gophers until he had concussion issues, right? I still am having a hard time comprehending how this has anything to do with Emerson Mandell.
Matt Rhule went 1-11 in his first season at Baylor with losses to UTSA and Liberty. I don't think it's unreasonable for Gopher fans to expect to beat Nebraska.

Leaves the Jets as the all-time leader in games played, points, and assists.
Not a chance he is a WR. BSF has put on like 40 pounds since he got to college and this guy has a frame to easily add on weight. The Gopher strength coaches and the team nutritionist will have him putting on lbs in no time
Financially it will be a huge upgrade. Graduate assistants make very little money (essentially enough to scrape by) and have to be working towards a masters degree. Even if he's making like $35K he's gotten raise from what he was doing for the Gophers.
In regards to your second comment about...
Also, he will be making significantly more $ as a full time position coach than he did as a graduate assistant. Good move for him professionally and financially!
I think the main issue for Tyler is his inability to contribute on special teams and as a likely WR4/WR5 that is something he's going to be asked to do.
