Gophers 63rd best team in the nation per The Athletic Rankings.

I like our odds against almost all the teams on that list.

What grade do you give Gophers coaches in win over Rhode Island?

Dominant D, let the offense open up, win 48-0. Not sure how you give that less than an A. It was an FCS opponent, yes, but I’m not going to grade on a harsh curve because of a scheduling decision. Maybe an A- for a slow start.

Poll: Who is your Gophers MVP in dominating win over Rhode Island?🏝️

This. It’s not taking anything away from Brosmer’s good (very good/great?) performance to say the D was far and away the MVP today.

Max Brosmer vowing to be more efficient after disappointing debut

I know what you mean by “test,” but PJ is usually good for one “how did we lose that” game per year. I think Nevada could be that game. They’re supposed to be awful, but they played SMU tight (don’t laugh, they’re a P4 team now!) and beat Troy on the road. Could be a Bowling Green situation.

Time.for PJ Fleck to Go, Engine Started

His teams are generally getting worse since the 2019 peak. This may be a 2-3 win season. He should be on the hot seat by the end of this season, but idk that we have the resources or courage to fire him.

Post Game Thread: Gophers Lose to North Carolina

This is a 2-3 win season unless we see drastic improvement in several areas.

I dislike Bama but I hate UNC. Good riddance.

Payne in portal (UPDATED: Payne commits to Texas A&M)

Exactly. Good chance he can make more money and compete on a team that regularly makes the dance. Hard to blame him or any player if that’s on the table.

Trev Alberts bolts Nebraska, upgrades as new AD of A&M

I don’t think this is a money thing. Alberts was apparently in the top 10 paid ADs and had a contract that would keep him there. A&M has plenty of wealthy boosters and oil money, but it’s not like Nebraska was lacking funds for athletics. Nor do I think this says anything about the state of...

Is this the end of court storming?

Duke star trips someone, fakes injury, and the media goes on crusade to defend its CBB golden goose. More at 11.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NEBRASKA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Was at the game… glad I got those tix for free. Pinnacle doesn’t feel like a college arena, but they get great and loud crowds.

Is this the end of court storming?

Wake should’ve had better crowd control. But I’ve never seen a more Duke moment than a star player tripping/shoving a fan and “injuring” himself, then watching their fans melt down and suggest that they sue Wake and the fan(s).

Minnesota Golden Gophers Tied for Lowest Win Total in Big Ten With 4.5 Wins Predicted for 2024

Let’s see… Expected win: Rhode Island, Nevada Toss ups, more or less: Maryland, UNC, UCLA, Iowa, Illinois, Rutgers, Wisconsin Expected loss: USC, Michigan, Penn State So they need to go 2-0 in the “easy” games and only 3-4 in the toss up games to hit the over. I’d take that.

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

I doubt PJ gets the job, but this is probably the most “nervous” I’ve been about an opening. Most of the other prior openings for which he’s been rumored were an odd fit for one reason or another. This one seems more plausible if it’s what PJ wants. We’ll see. Count me in the camp that doesn’t...

Saban Retiring. Was one heck of a run.

He deserves a ton of credit, obviously, but you also have to factor in the nature of college recruiting. Some programs start on third base because of their name, history, and location. It’s a hell of a lot easier to build a great roster at someplace like Bama, Florida, Michigan, Texas, USC, etc...

Saban Retiring. Was one heck of a run.

Have to tip your hat to the GOAT. I’ve come to begrudgingly admire Saban, though I won’t shed a tear if Bama has a Nebraska stretch. I know Bama is a top job… maybe THE top job… but man, taking over from Saban in a rapidly changing environment is a tough ask. If I’m the Washington, Texas...
