STrib: Donors to Gophers face a decision: Give to the school or to the athletes?

Dig ding ding! Looks like Jason Stahl finally chimed in. This can't be a serious question, unless you've been living under a rock for a while? The answer is, it's the same reason we give them free room and board - because we think it'll help us win games, duh. Decisions usually involve...

Rutgers has named Athan Kaliakmanis the starting QB. Rutgers QB Gavin Wimsatt, who started 18 games the last two years announces he's transferring

Seems like the kinda guy Scott Frost would have picked up at UCF to help "out-athlete" the competition. That being said, you gotta appreciate the irony here. Someone else comes in and takes his starting spot, so what's he gonna do about it...he's gonna go try and take someone else's starting...

STrib: Donors to Gophers face a decision: Give to the school or to the athletes?

Then they could at least come out and say that they are not doing what is in the best interest of Gopher athletics. Don't try to play both sides.

STrib: Donors to Gophers face a decision: Give to the school or to the athletes?

Talk about hyperbole/exaggeration. I give to charity. If they told me they'd like to introduce me to another charity of kind of a similar nature, I'd listen. And if the new, second charity pissed me off, in no way whatsoever would I hold it against the first charity. Different people...

STrib: Donors to Gophers face a decision: Give to the school or to the athletes?

The fact that other universities were starting to get players paid to go to their schools is all the proof of concept that was needed.

UAB becomes 1st Division I football team to join players association

Don't they just have to provide the opportunity for females to also earn money? Then if there's no revenue from that sport to be earned, that's still compliant with title 9 because the opportunity was there. Equal opportunity, not equal results. Just like if the women took in more money than...

Kill on Fleck: Coach has done a good job. There’s no doubt about that. MN has won. My personal feelings—one way or another—coach has done a good job.

I dunno, maaaaybe something about our new transfers from the SEC? That might be more useful. Outside of the people on this message board, how many people in the Twin Cities are aware of those transfers?

    NFL Draft

Interesting thought, but that kinda sounds like Cousins went there to win (high draft pick offensive weapons) and now they plan on just using him to groom the replacement for later on? I'd hold out and ask for a trade if I were him, but make Atlanta eat the salary like Denver did for Wilson.

    NFL Draft

Ah yes, the kinds of messages all of us posters come here to enjoy. Keep it up please. And by the way, I wouldn't be surprised if @Out State Gopher is taller than both you and Mike Morris.

    NFL Draft

Anywho, what the heck is Atlanta doing by drafting a QB??? The whole point is to have QB be cheap for the first 4-5 years but you ruin that by paying the other QB $40+ million....

    NFL Draft

You have a point with the first question, but don't act like you don't know the family he is referring to simply because he got one letter wrong in the last name. Are you another one of Mpls Gopher's alt accounts?

Andrew Trout, 2026, 6'6" offensive tackle commits to Gophers!

Stop getting ahead of yourself - what matters is how tall he is compared to Mike Morris! Have you not learned anything while being on this board? ;) (On a side note, dad looks to have done pretty well with a younger woman - no way those two are within 10 years of each other.)

Former #Gophers DE commit transfers to MN from Clemson.

That's a rather good point. I'd totally do that if I was a high school senior. Enroll early and then if you find out the coach sold you a load of crap during recruiting, hit the portal.

Former #Gophers DE commit transfers to MN from Clemson.

No. He's at least here until the next portal window opens, which will be after the season (unless Fleck gets fired or leaves, then he can enter as well).

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

How do you feel about the defensive end from Clemson who entered the portal yesterday morning and then committed to us pretty quickly? Obviously there's no proof and since he had committed to us last summer, it could be reasoned that he contacted us after entering, but the timing is still the...

Former #Gophers DE commit transfers to MN from Clemson.

If I remember correctly, Clemson was his dream school but they hadn't offered yet and so he focused on us, but I thought it was kinda assumed that if Clemson offered, he'd jump, and eventually they did offer. Maybe someone would care to dig up the old thread...?

Might help if you say who the person is, what position he plays, etc.

    OJ Simpson

Agreed. We just disagree about the thought process to get to that decision. This I don't agree with. Just because he might have mishandled some evidence, does that mean he got OJ's DNA everywhere else too? I can see that if someone mishandles something, you have to through out EVERYTHING...

    OJ Simpson

No offense, but I'm struggling to see why you agree with this? Are you saying that you think he's not innocent but agree with the not guilty verdict because of the actions of the detective?
