Gophers hire TE coach per Ryan Burns.

That would work as long as the TEs still have their own room. Every position group absolutely must have a room!

Jerry Kill gets job at Vanderbilt.

True. All I can think is that he built enough men in New Mexico so he's moving to Nashville where there's work to be done.

Saban Retiring. Was one heck of a run.

I'm old and I've seen a lot of great coaches, but I agree he's the best of this era by far and puts up a great resume against coaches from earlier eras. What I always liked about him is that he was intense without being a big-time dick.

    Tre Jones going pro

I am old and with all the new offensive sets and defensive schemes, there are so many opportunities for guys who one wouldn't think have a pro future to find just the right fit. Add to that, the larger practice squads and there a lot of guys at the next level that my untrained eye never saw as...

2023-24 National Championship: Michigan vs Washington

I'm not enamored with Harbaugh for the exact reasons you have laid out, but from a distance I can get a basic understanding of why he's successful and why prospective players want to play for him. Odd personality, but seems a lot more genuine than some of the other great stone faces that...

2023-24 National Championship: Michigan vs Washington

I thought it was really a great game that still hung in the balance until the 4th quarter. I couldn't really tell from the January 1 games because I wasn't as laced in for those games. I'll admit I do get a bit tired of all the camera shots of families/girlfriends, but that must work at some...

    Jaylen Varner Commits

One of Jerry Kill's pre-Minnesota coaching stops. Varner likely didn't call for a recommendation.

2023-24 National Championship: Michigan vs Washington

Well, it meant a lot last night. One of the biggest plays of the game was McCarthy's scramble on 3rd-and-long that got Michigan out from the shadows of their own goalposts. Athleticism aside, from what I've seen, I don't think Penix can make that same play. That is really all I am saying...

2023-24 National Championship: Michigan vs Washington

In terms of athleticism. I could be wrong, but I think McCarthy's 40-time is better than Penix'. That doesn't mean all that much and Penix may do better in raw strength categories, but McCarthy is flat-out fast.

2023-24 National Championship: Michigan vs Washington

Athleticism isn't everything (and we'll see how athletic Penix is at the combine), but it's night-and-day between him and McCarthy with McCarthy coming out on top. I don't trust Penix' arm either. All that said, the QB position at the pro level is often system-dependent and Penix may be a good...

2023-24 National Championship: Michigan vs Washington

McCarthy is awfully good. It is difficult to tell how good because he plays in a fairly conservative offense, but he's very athletic and has got a rifle.

2023-24 National Championship: Michigan vs Washington

I realize all the analytics angles, but I am having a difficult time figuring out why Harbaugh didn't punt on 4&3 even though it was inside Washington territory. Gave Washington some life. Can't prove the negative, so maybe Washington goes the length of the field. Thing I've noticed both in...

    Tyler Johnson

I thought Johnson's career would go better than it has thus far. He's not that explosive, but he's really strong and can battle DBs on 50/50 balls.

    Vikings

When I was watching the Steelers last night, I wondered why the Vikings (or other teams) didn't pursue Mason Rudolph when he was a free agent. I think he signed with the Steelers right around the draft, so he was out there. If we've learned anything at both the college and pro levels this...

    Natty Championship Prediction Thread

I went with Washington, mostly based on the semi-final. If Penix, Jr., can repeat that performance, I don't see how they lose. Of course, Michigan's defense is far superior to Texas', but Washington just appears to play faster and as good as Michigan is, I see a bit of a speed deficit (only a...
