***OFFICIAL OHIO STATE AT MINNESOTA IN-BATTLE THREAD!!!***

Battle is a scorer first and foremost. He doesn't bring a whole lot else to the table, but he has a nice stroke and given his size, he can get it off with ease.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

I think there were massive lay-offs a while ago. I've never been a subscriber, so I can't comment on the coverage beyond the paywall. I still find the site useful and easy to navigate when it comes to getting scores and statistics. Presentation is more clear than at any of the league sites...

    Fleck is staying!!!

I think Pitino would make a great analyst on a broadcast team. He could provide exemplary critiques of players' dribbling ability as he taught that so well as a coach. Seriously, I thought Pitino was very engaging. Great interview and the times he was on with Barreiro were fun. It isn't as...

Court Hearing on whether NIL rules can be legally enforced

It maybe wouldn't have made any difference, but when the NCAA was throwing every roadblock in front of NIL and other assistance to players (allowing work or increasing stipends) maybe they should have been a bit more generous with the student/athletes. Everything might have unfolded in the same...

Court Hearing on whether NIL rules can be legally enforced

NFL has a free minor league system right now. Colleges do the scouting of the high school players and provide the development at no cost to the NFL. Not seeing an advantage for the NFL upsetting the current state of affairs.

    All Things Turd Sandwiches

Wisconsin has a nice program, but like you say, the ceiling hasn't been particularly high outside of the stellar team that featured Kaminisky and Dekker (that was a really good team). The big thing is that Ryan and Gard kept their guys around all four years and what many of those teams lacked...

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

UCLA is a highly-regarded academic school with a middling football APR and Fleck's record with academics at Minnesota is probably going to be a selling point if (and it's a big if) school administrations value that. UCLA has been a bit of a coach's graveyard ever since Terry Donahue left 30...

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

Totally forgot about Whalen, but her experience should be a warning of why coaching experience is necessary. If being a great player was all it took, you'd see a lot more ex-players coaching.

If Fleck leaves, who should realistically be on Coyle’s immediate call list?

Miss Cleo died a few years ago, so I had to find a new psychic. Spirit Medium Laura is okay, so I had her connect with Sid Hartman in the great beyond to see what he thinks about the situation. He's still all-in on Trestman, but is more adamant that the U should bring back General College.

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

There's a difference between "no head coaching experience" and "no relevant coaching experience."

    Iowa Tampering Death Penalty Incoming!

l think something that requires a student/athlete to stay two calendar years/seasons or have to sit out a year after transferring (I'll let people smarter than me figure out the details) makes sense. Maybe allow a sixth-year to play four. I think they also have to look at the grad transfer...

Super Bowl Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce Coverage Meltdown

She was actually born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and moved to Nashville when she was 14 to embark on her music career. Her father was a managing director for Merrill Lynch and her mother was a marketing manager at an ad agency. I don't know where that would put them on the political spectrum...

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I'm way old and remember when basketball was almost exclusively a big man's game and the teams with the best inside players dominated the sport at the college and pro levels. With the three-point shot and other changes, success is more greatly determined by effective guard play and you can see...

Jamison Transferred To OSU So That He Could Experience March Madness Oh! Oh!

Battle is a really talented player, but I like this year's chemistry with Hawkins and Mitchell better. Battle worked well when Willis was driving the offense and Battle could play off of him as pretty much the only other scoring option. Big problem for the Gophers the second half of that...

SEC and BIG Joint Advisory Group

The major conferences have to get in front of this. Given the changes of the past few years, I think the balance between amateur and semi-pro has become more delicate and tenuous to some extent. The NFL doesn't want to run a minor league system similar to MLB. NFL owners are only going to...

Slipped my ever-aging brain. Utecht was very good and clearly in the top five.

    Brevyn Spann-Ford Senior Bowl measurements

Your post got me thinking about who would be included in the Top Five TEs in Gopher history. Maxx Williams and Matt Spaeth are pretty much no-brainers post-2000 and Brandon Lingen and Nick Tow-Arnett each had their moments (and I don't know if Marqueis Gray is considered a TE), but you have to...

It's too bad those two never worked on the same staff as co-head coaches. Building men through eating hot chili!
